Turbo causings A/C problems, need help
Ok car is a 98' GS-R converted to obd1 from obd2a. The AC worked fine when the car was all motor but after i installed the turbo kit the AC hasnt worked at all. when you turn it on the car almost stalls. RPM's drop really low then the AC turns itself off. you can see it keep trying to turn back on but everytime it does the car almost stalls. Is there any settings in the ecu that need to be set up? Is it not adding injector load when it kicks on or something? Im stupmed. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I had this problem on a civic, but it wasn't turbo. Actually the compressor got wet, then I guess something rusted, and the compressor locked up. Could your downpipe be touching it and it got too hot and fried something? I revved the car up to about 3k and turned the A/C on, once the a/c tried to kick on something exploded inside the compressor and refrigerant went everywhere. Threw on a used compressor and it worked fine after that. Does it make any noise when the a/c is off?

No it doesnt make any noise. Maybe it is locking up? cuz when it starts the car shutters alot then just kicks it back off.

can we say FREAKIN hot under that hood?????
with a turbop your radiating 4Xs the amount of heat that you did all motor. that turbo housing gets extremely hot. also your fmic is blocking up some of the ac condenser. so that also makes it harder to cool the charge in the ac. all those things take their toll ont he ac system. if I boost around a few then turn on ac it takes a while of normal easy driving to get cool air again.

Well its not just that its not blowing cold, it wont stay on at all. it kicks on, studders and turns back off. With the car running and the hood popped you can see the condensor or whatever kick on then turn right back off when the car almost dies. it keeps doing it til you turn off the AC.

Re: (stockredej1)
Compressor's probably seized.
However, my downpipe is almost touching the compressor, and my a/c still works. Did it ever get really wet, or did you wash down the engine bay and not cover the compressor?
