turbo car problem
Ok to start out I have a 1.8 16v turbo scirocco as we all know. I been having some problems for a while now and been doing my damnist to fix them but its not getting me anywhere so I'm going to post here.
To be straight up (pardon my french) but my car lose its *****. I had it at 10:1 compression on a t3 60 trim turbo off a t-bird with a .48a/r at 12psi 18 degrees advance and it was fast as hell. I was whipping up on talons that was running 15-18psi. well #2 psiton ring land blow. I rebuilt the motor and taking everyones advice I stacked the headgaskets and brought it to 8:5.1 I had it dyno tuning and had problem like hell on the dyno. boost would go to 15psi and just bleed or leak back down to 8. I tightened the wastegate rod and replaced the BOV. now from what I can see its holding boost. a few months later I upgraded to a t3/t4 turbo with a 60-1 wheel and a .63 A/R (where I am now). I tuned it to 10psi and it was ooK. didn't have to power it had with the smaller turbo so I upped the boost to 15psi thinking the turbo need to wake up. well long story short it still doesn't have the power. I took it to the track and ran a damn 16.9 (missed 3rd gear for a few seconds). then 3 of the bolts holding the turbo to the manifold broke causing the car to back fire and shoot fire ***** all over the place. I'm running the timing at 23 degrees total timing. My big problem is up in the RPM its a power drop off where it looses power. motor still reads 15psi but you can feel it loosing power.
engine has 180 compression in all 4 cyclinders and a 5% leakdown in all 4 cyclinders.
stats are:
1.8 16v stacked headgaskets
t3/t4 turbo 60-1 wheel .63 a/r 15psi
23 degrees total timing 93 octane
sperco intercooler with 2.25in intercooler piping
2.5in exhaust
I found out that my manifold is cracked at the t3 flange but that shouldn't drop off over all power up in the RPMs.
anyone have any suggests besides blowing the car up or sell it?
