Turbo Cams - R these any good
Hi guys, I need ur expert advise... One of my buddies is selling a pair of Kent Cams. The following is the spec (which I have no idea about!!) They are in a B16A2 at the moment... I want them to go in my B16A2 (Del Sol). The difference is he is running NA whereas I'll be running the Rev Max kit (T3/T4).
Makes Power band at - 2500-8000
Cam Lift - 7.34mm Inlet: 6.80mm Exhaust
Valve Lift - 11.01mm Inlet: 10.21mm Exhaust
Duration - 300 Degrees
Timing Figures - 42/78 78/42
Valve Timings - 108 108 Degrees
Valve Clearance - 0.25mm
Will these be any good????
TIA.

Re: Turbo Cams - R these any good (boosted hybrid)
I only have a link to the manufacturer.... http://www.kentcams.com/index.htm
They are model number HV1603
Let me knw if that's any help? Apparantly the profile is more aggressive than the type-r cams?? but I'm not sure what that means?

Re: Turbo Cams - R these any good (T-Blaze)
Assuming the duration that you gave me is advertised duration, the duration at 1mm lift is 260 degrees. Things to look for in a turbo cam are high lift, low duration to some point. Honda engines like a certain amount of duration, the gsr cams duration is 234 degree's. The cam that you are speaking of has approximately the lift of the type r cams, but the duration profile has been increased. This is good for an all motor cam to increase exhaust scaveging, but for a turbo car you will blow the air out of the combustion chamber easily effectively making you lose power. I believe that the best turbo cams you can get are the stock itr ones, and have them modified on the duration specs. I am taking down stock itr cams duration to around 228-230 duration and see how they preform.

You have to have a cam specialist grind the duration down on the vtec lobes. I am going through web cams to have the duration taken down. I will have dyno plots this spring when my engine is broken in and dyno'd of stock gsr cams vs modded itr cams to show if there is any difference. I think the gains will be signifiant to say the least.
