Default turbo b16

Hey guys just wanted to say im kinda new to this forum and whole FI thing so bear w/ me please. I am picking up a 2000 Civic Si in a few weeks....and i have about 5000 to spend....i have been searching on here a lot such as how to turbo your car and all that. I am thinking about going with just a kit but not sure which one. I want a/c and i want about 300whp and be able to handle more if i get boost happy ...some kits ive been looking at are full-race, peakboost, and spoolin performance. I have found on the market place eagle rods, pistons for about 800.00 and i heard when installing these you want to get it balanced and blueprinted....again im just trying to get a ball park idea if this will be enough $$$ and what kinda numbers can i put down with these internals. Thank you very much for the help and if anything else i should consider tell me!

you should just boost the stock engine for now. till you get used to driving something with power.

i agree. also if you budget is 5k that should be just enough to get a quality kit, the proper fuel upgrades, and a tune. with a little left over.

a block build typically costs around 3k. pistons and rods are only 800 but then you need......head studs, head gasket, timing belt, bearings, water pump, oil pump, machining. it adds up quick.

i say you sleeve the block. build the comeplete motor so that later down the line it can handle anything you throw at it.

Trust me with all the money ive wasted on setups i would've just rather done it right the first time.

thanks guys...what kits would yall recommend full-race stage 1 w/ ac also is hondata s300 a good tuning software. And with that kit does it come with everything i need to put in on and drive thats of course with out tuning....fuel pumps, intake manifold etc

I'd much rather be the boost newbe to blow a stock motor then a fully built one. All it takes is one error or malfunction of almost any part and goodbye motor... Built or not.

I say just focus on a stout turbo setup

i agree. but i just think if i started all over i would have built my motor right the first time even if it took a little while.

but then again if your looking for like 250whp there is no need to build a motor.

yeh but see i wanted at least 280-300 fwhp...**** i might just buy one already built and turboed what do yall thing?

You can make 280-300whp on a b16 but in my opinion its pushing it.

you can make 300whp on a b16 stock internals with a good tune and have it last a while. If you are gonna get boost happy then your goin to need internals to run anymore boos than that. Eventually your gonna need to upgrade the fuel systems to run more boost.
