Default Tuners Please Check In!

I know that for ignition timing you are supposed to use a dyno to do. But this is my first base map and I'm still learning about crome and currently I don't have the time to hit a dyno just yet. I have posted my LOW and HIGH cams please let me know if these maps are conservative enough. I know that too retarded is bad and too advance is bad. So please let me know if this map will do as a basemap for ignition timing.

This is for a stock d16z6 running 8lbs of boost.

This is LOWCAM

And this is HIGHCAM

8lbs on what turbo?
i would pull a little more timing and work it back in by reading plugs just to be safe. but not bad at all.

Looks fine, but watch out if you have a faster spooling turbo because in the low cam map it's HEAVILY retarded in the boost cloumns and lower revs (ie 3000rpm) if you never will use that portion then disregard what I said . Looks good though and Good luck

How do you figure. I think it looks about right. It could even be less if he wanted.

i agree. I've tuned a bunch of sohc's on the street using knock detection and they dont like much timing around vtec crossover espescially.

doesnt look bad imo. could probably pull a degree or so around 4500-5500 to account for max torque/peak cyl pressures

i agree. i always run GSR maps on all B seres VTEC motors i tune cuz of the timing drop it has around peak TQ. it just makes it a bit safer around Peak Torque. lower the timing around the VTEC crossover point by 2 * (4400 to 5800) but on the top end u can add a little bit more timing. try to get ur car on the dyno and tune out the ignition maps

On those maps, is that the total timing or just adv/ret from your base?

i think ur maps are good for a basemap. u have quite a bit of timing pulled already. just strap that car up on a dyno and tune away

a couple is a lot, then again, without a dyno its better to be safter than sorry (however i dont think your current timing setting will jeapordize your motor)

out of curiosity, whats your a/f at?

Alright thanks a lot guys. Yeah I got these by doing a bit of research about ign timing. I used Crome with 1.00 degrees retard per pound of boost and then I just went in and cleaned it up a bit. What do you guys think about the LOWCAM ign maps within the boost column? My turbo doesn't start seeing boost until around 3500 rpms.

Right now my idle AFR is bouncing between 15.2 - 15.6
My cruise AFR is bouncing around 13.6 - 14.0
And once I start to get on the pedal AFR drops down to 11.5

your idle is kinda lean no biggie
lean out your cruise portion and save some gas
on throttle i like to start around 13 at 0vac and get to 12 by 5lbs by 7lbs im at 11.8 -11.5
good luck

Well for the idle I notice that it seems to idle a lot better when it's around 15.2 ro 15.6. If I bring it down to 14.8 or lower it just idles real high and bounces up and down. But I'll soon be datalogging, so that'll help me with AFR even more.
