try to figure THIS out
I dont know if anyone will be able to diagnose anything from my info. but any suggestions are welcome. Heres my setup, GReddy kit on, d16z6/y8. Fuel rail, lines, pump, regulator, have been upgraded... still using band aid FMU and stock injectors and stock fuel filter. I was driving my car a few days ago, it was raining, I casually shifted into 2nd about 2sec. later the gas pedal had no effect. (best way to describe it) When I pushed the gas pedal nothing happoned, it was as if I was not pressing it at all, the car then died. It will crank, turn over for a split second, then die. Yes it does have a full tank of gas, no check engine light, the car has been jumped, alarm reset, also I have tried bypassing the FMU and going from the regulator (sx eng.) to the return line, and it still does not start. The fuel pump has been replaced with a new one with no effect, same exact prob still. There are no leaking fuel lines, and no apperent leaking vacume lines (I think it would still start at least anyway). Although the kit has been on for almost 4yrs. this car was running strong as ever untill this event. The only thing I can think of is either the stock injectors gave up, after market regulator just stoped working, or something is clogging or cutting off fuel within the system somewhere (@ rail, filter, reg.?) Any suggestions, and all 2 cents welcome?

Jeopardy:
Me: "I will take car problems for 1000 Chuck."
Chuck: "Its raining and your engine dies."
Me: "What is 'water in the distributor' Chuck."
Chuck: "Correct for 1000. Choose again..."
Basically, your car died and won't start. Forget the turbo, go for the ignition. Rainy days and car just dies is just screaming ignition.

Re: try to figure THIS out (RGAZ)
RGAZ-thats the funniest reply I've seen in a while, and a good point too. If the distributor were to be bad would it throw a check engine light? Other than that I'll throw on a new cap/rotor, and possibly swap on a friends working plug wires, but the spark plugs were recently changed and threw a new timing belt/water pump on just last year, I'm going to focus on the ignition and go from there, thanks everyone.

I'm also leaning towards distributor. Could be your coil or ignition module went, or one of the multiple triggers, sometimes they like to go at inconveniant times. No chance at all that its the plugs or wires, there's just no way they would all go at once. And also, pull of the fuel return line and check for fuel flow (into a container of course). Just have a friend turn on the key for a second.

I'd check your fuel filter... i had the same problem and when I changed it, I couldn't even blow through the filter inlet because it was so clogged. will a compressor of course.
hmmm gas sure smells nice... jut doens't taste that great. hahheh

find a friend with the same motor as you and borrow the whole distributor. These things can be a pain. One time I had a problem in my car where it was running fine then all of a sudden just boom shut off. it could crank and crank with nothing. Then all of a sudden it would start right up and run fine. then die. Well I had to tow it home that night. It was throwing ignition output check engine light or something like that. So I was changing coils, distributors, taking out MSD stuff, doing all kinds of stuff. It ended up being one of the stupid wire T's that I had installed on the wiring harness near the computer had actually cut through the wire. So after lots of cursing and throwing things I fixed it with a soldering gun and some heat shrink. Minus $80 for towing.
Point being, it is most likely ignition related. maybe something got shorted out.

Re: try to figure THIS out (TurboInteg95)
I'm going to try to get another distributor from a friend or somewhere else. I still got my old cap/rotor that were still working when I replaced them last time, and a new fuel filter should be easy to throw on. Hopefully that works, I cant get to my car untill the weekend, thanks for everything.

my idle control adjuster went awall and held my RPMs at 4K while sitting in traffic. See if it might not have done the opposite to you.

Before you go and rip the dizzy out of a couple of cars, try this: Simply pull out one of your spark plugs, leave it attached to the wire and ground the threads on the intake manifold. Have someone crank the engine and watch for spark. If there is no spark, make sure the cam is turning (timing belt) before replacing any distributor components. You can usually see if there is movement inside the valve cover by simply removing the oil cap; that way you do not need to remove the valve cover to check.
