I heard this statement from somebody. I was wondering if it is true or not.
"I have also been told that once you have tuned your car and set your settings on the profec b that after that point if you mess with it you have to retune your car to reset everything even though you turn the dials back to the original position...
"
Is this true? Would this explain why I adjusted my balance on my Profec B and now even though I have turned it back to it's original position, I still have my boost spikes?
Pretty lame if it is true. NObody has ever mentioned something like this before.
I was going to get it retuned for HIGH boost since I only got it tuned for low boost settings last time. If it's true, let me know so I can plan ahead.
Thanks for any replies!

Nope, totally false statement. I have set up three different profec b's and all preformed the in the same fashion. The ***** will go back to your settings that you previously had them at. Its consistent, so there is another problem. I actually had the first channel on the profec b go bad on me. I ended up purchasing another profec b in its place.

Yikes!
Well, I will fiddle with it around some more then, see if I can dial it out or not.
Hey guys, I noticed that when I was pushing hard into boost in 3rd gear on the highway... well, I was driving, and when I usually hit 5psi I would normally hear the Wastegate open up and start goign brap brap brap. But NOW, instead, the car would go to 8psi, then I would hear teh BRAP BRAP from my wastegate, and then the boost would go back down to 5psi.
I try setting my WG balance sharper, to maybe get it open sooner.
But I don't know why all of a sudden that it's having this spike yet.
Is there other things that I can look for to find the cause of the problem??

This is my setup so you know what I'm talking about
MaxRev Manifold, Maxrev DP
Garret T3T4, Tial WG 35mm w/.3bar spring,
Greddy Profec B Boost controller, Hondata 2B.
Maybe somewhere within this configuration does something?
If you guys know of something that might cause this, let me know.
About that spike form the running. yeah.. My maxrev manifold only has my wastgate off of one running apparently.. The 2nd runner I believe. here's a pic.
Could this be the culprit of my boost spikes?
What I don't understand is... why do I have it now, when I never had it before?

Now my boost spike is spiking up to 13 psi!
This sucks, I can't get on my gas cuase my stupid Tial doesn't open up.
Hey, is it possible that something is just sticking and it's not opening up in time without enough pressure? But I mean, my boost controller should be able to correct something like that isn't it?
If something WAS sticking.. Where would be the best place to take a look?

Quit fidgeting with the Profec, and bypass the damn thing. make sure your wastegate is working right first, which it wounds like it's not.
Hook up the wastegate directly to a boosted source <like the compressor housing if you have a port there> and see if the boost stops at .3 bar <about 4.5 psi>.
See what happens. If it spikes when connected like this, you've got other issues.

I give it a look and take some pics if I can't find anything. Maybe somebody will see something that I don't.
Thanks for the info.
Oh yeah, I noticed that it really snug in there and it's actually kind of squished a little between another hose. Not really squished much, just kind of sandwich. Could that be it?

The manual said that if it is overboosting, to turn it sharper. Maybe I misunderstood that statement.
So if turning it sharper makes it stay closed longer, does that mean.. .if I turn it more MILD, that it will open up sooner?

closed longer will help build boost quicker since the wastegate isnt bleeding as much. Then at your desired boost, it will jump open....in a sharper mannor
Correct me if Im wrong.

Do that and eliminate one possibility at a time.

WHich lines do I need to disconnect to make sure if my wg is working properly? I'm not too sure cause I didnt hook up the wg myself.
Is it those two rubber black lines on the top and bottom of the wg?

boost spikes? it maybe ur tial wg spring it might be too low. i went to atp (company that fabs turbo kits for vw) in the bay area and i was going to order a .3bar bar tail spring for my 35mm but guy said it wasnt good because it s jus too low and u might have boost spikes so i went with the next one up i think its a 4.5bar. goodluck

I was ponderign over this possilbe issue as well.
Has anybody else heard of this possibility also?
Reason why I ruled it out was becuase... I had been running fine with this .3bar spring with no problems. I don't see why it would start happening now you know?

I can't really figure it out, my wg seems fine, so do the lines, and the Boost controlelr seems to be workign and setup okay.
It's just some fluke thing that has started happening all of a sudden.
... I guess I'll just go one step at a time to find out what the hell is the matter.
To make myself feel better, I bought some new Falken Azenis tires. I always want to give them a feel to see how they fair at the autoX.
