Default Throwing Code 16 after OBD2- OBD1 conversion with Greddy kit

Since it somewhat relates to FI I thought I might give this forum a try.....

I have a 99 GSR with a Greddy turbo kit (RC 310cc injectors) and still utilizing the Blue Box for now. All was fine while running the OBD2 computer. After converting to OBD1 using a converter harness I get a CEL code 16 at the top of 3rd gear. The code will go away after I shut off the car. The car will be normal so I can drive and boost as I please but when I reach the top of 3rd gear the car falls flat on its face and instantly goes into limp mode (3500 rev limiter). The blue box was initially tapped into the factory harness then I retapped the converter harness and the problem did not go away.

I've read a couple of archived threads and see that I'm not the only one with this problem. Has anyone run into this problem and figured out for sure how to resolve it? It seems like nobody has found a solution for this in the archives. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Because I get random misfire check engine lights and it doesn't run quite as well with the OBD2 computer. It runs so much smoother with the OBD1 computer..well up until the end of 3rd gear anyway.

I always got the random misfires too, arrrggggg. I'd say get hondata in there ASAP. I think it could be the harness. Did you get a OBD version B or A harness?

The connections are not soldered but they were working fine with the OBD2 ECU. I think that would be my next step but I don't know whether I should put the effort into doing it since I am getting a Hondata soon. On top of that my fingers are killing me from all the wire taps. The converter harnesses that JDMSHIT.com sells have wires that are damn hard to penetrate. Durable to say the least. Anyway, I might do it this weekend if I'm bored or something.

I got the OBD2a-OBD1 harness (99 GSR's are OBD2a) from Newman at JDMSHIT.com. Everyone else has given it positive reviews so I don't think its the harness. I might need to buy another one from him anyway since this one is now cut.

Code 16 is fuel injector code? Sounds like it is running too rich possibly? My P28 ecu in my '99 would do that if it was running too rich. You have anyway of leaning out the high rpm slightly?

Nope...not with the blue box. I'm tempted to go buy a VAFC right now but that would be taking a step backwards. I think I'll just stick my OBD2 ECU back in until I get the Hondata ready to go. I think you are right though. My car feels really sluggish in low RPM probably because its running too rich.

Yep, when I would richen up my VAFC settings too much I'd get the same symptoms as you with a code 16. Since you are going to get Hondata then do like you said, just put the OBD2 ecu back in for now

Its all making sense now. I remember richening/trimming the mixture with the AFC a little too much either way and I would see the CEL with RC310's. I think the blue box is doing the same thing up top...dumping too much fuel. Only this time its not adjustable. Thanks for the memory refresher.
