TD05-12a Starion/conquest turbo. What kind of power can I get out of it??
Possibly going on D16y8 which will be running 10psi w/ AFC hack and DSM 450cc injectors.
I can't find any info on people using this, but I have a good spare from my Conquest, and if it can make decent power, I might as well use the free turbo I already have, right?
So I am wondering if it will be able to get me to somewhere around 180-200 whp.

please don't do the AFC hack get the car tuned!
it's not very expensive, just a little more than the cost of an AFC and the car will be faster and more reliable

So, about the question I asked, will the 12a get me to somewhere around 200whp, or is it too small?
I will be going with a chipped ECU next summer, but the AFC was dirt cheap from a friend, and it will work for now.

remember that when you do an AFC hack, theres no control over ignition retard in boost, simply because the AFC is fooling the ECU.
ignition advance in boost = unhappy internals.
i dont think its too small of a turbo, but u'll get some bad *** spool times.
200whp is a long shot on a AFC hack...but its been done.

Yeah, its gonna get towed to a local shop after the install, so the first time it will get driven hard will be on a dyno, under close supervision of guys who can tune just about anything with wheels.
200whp was an optimistic number, I just don't want to find out that the turbo will run out of steam at 5000rpm and have shitty top end, thats all.

put it this way with the AFC hack you might be able to make 200 whp but you will really be pushing the limits and in all likelyhood blow up your ****
with proper tuning 200 whp will be easy!
Sell the AFC and put that money toward real tuning
do it right or don't do it at all!

So, will the turbo get me to 170whp, I am more worried about the size of the turbo. AFC hack can work just fine, I am going to retard the base timing to compensate for the advance that the AFC puts in. This is a daily driver and I am looking for a little extra speed, not an all out drag car, 200whp was a nice rouind number that sounded good in my head, thats all.

Re: (Briman2021)
The compressor section on those 12a's is TINY....considerably less flow then a 14b found on the 90-94 DSM's.To make things worse the turbine wheel/housing was designed/sized for a low-rpm 2.6L motor, So it isn't going to be a very good match for your single-cam.I would just spend the $100 and buy a T-bird T3 or a dsm 14b/16g.

Thanks for answering the question I asked instead of telling my im an idiot for going AFC.
Thats what I was afraid of, the 2 motors couldn't be more opposite, but I wasn't sure if the lack of displacement in my honda would compensate for the much greater revs.
My conquest's peak torque is at 2000rpm and peak hp is at about 4750rpm, so I wasn't sure if the turbo would run out of steam at 6000 rpm or something.
