Default T3 Question

Ive got an AiResearch T3 turbo out of a Saab, and Im getting ready to install everything. One thing is holding me up, which is the oil inlet/outlet direction. The outlet is facing almost straight up from where I need it to be, and we all know this wont work. SO, How can I rotate the housing? I was thinking take off the compressor impeller, and then everything from there on, but I cant get the nuts loose off the shaft. The exhaust impeller has a funky nut on it, and I dont even know what to hold it with. Can anybody help me? Oh ya, I'll get pics of my 37" intercooler soon

Don't mess with the shaft!!! All you have to do is loosen the bolts around the outside of the compressor and exhaust housings. Then the compressor, center, and exhaust housings can all be rotated to any configuration needed. Just make sure that you keep the oil drain within 45deg of straight down.

Chris,
I knew it was a simple idea, but doing it is not always so simple. This turbo has 277,000 miles on it(ZERO shaft play) and is pretty well stuck together. How can I get all the housings loose? BFH? Ive tried the BFH method already, so I think im getting out two huge pipe wrenches, one to twist the exhaust housing, and one to twist the center. Let me know if this is a good idea before I get too abusive

Some heat (torch) & a dead blow rubber hammer will go a long way towards getting the turbine housing loose.

Soak the exhaust side with liquid penetrant and then use a rubber or brass mallet to loosen the housing if you do not have access to a torch!
