Default T3/60-1 Questions

I just got my turbo today, and i had a couple questions

Are all the inlets of the 60-1 4 inch?

On the compressor side, by the compressor outlet on the inside, it is stamped ".60" Is that the a/r of the compressor?

Is there any other distinguishing features of a 60-1 that i should look for?

Thanks

Sounds like you have the 60-1 hifi version of the 60-1. The normal 60-1's come with a .70 a/r housing and 4 inch inlet. What you have is a 60-1 wheel that has been stuffed into a t4oe housing. They are less efficient, and the 60 trim t3/t40e wheel is a much more efficient wheel over the 60-1 for anything under 15psi.

Ok, how does the spool time compare to the standard 60-1? I would imagine it would spool a little quicker, as it has a smaller compressor housing.

Does this turbo flow more air that a standard t3/t04e? And If i want to, can i swap in a t04e wheel in place of the 60-1 wheel? Im gonna be running under 15 psi...for now

Its going to spool up a hair faster than the standard 60-1, but not by alot.

I dont think that the compressor housing allows the turbo to flow the same amount as with the .70a/r housing. I have never gotten a straight answer on the flow rate of the hifi version. I am guessing that it flows less. You cannot swap the 60 trim wheel onto your shaft without having the turbo sent out and rebalanced. Its not like swapping out housing where they just unbolt.

The only reason that they make the hifi version is for space issues. The hifi is 10% less efficient than the standard 60-1, which is already 8% less efficient than the 60 trim. You probably should have just stuck with a 57 or 60 trim wheel.

I believe the turbonetics site states that the hi-fi flows 5-10% less than the standard 60-1.

I'm also curious about the t3 60-1 but on http://www.cheapturbo.com they say it is 10% more efficient than a t04s.

I emailed cheapturbo.com, and this is their reply-

"turbonetics states that it FLOWS 5-10% less, which it does. but it is 10% more efficient.
kind of a give and take."

I am guessing that because the standard to4s compressor flows 60 lbs/min, that would mean the 60-1 hifi would flow somewhere around 55 lbs/min, but at a lower rpm than the to4s.

Can anyone clarify this?
