A 57 Trim in a .50 Housing T3/O4E

A 57 Trim in a .50 Housing T3/O4E?
Is it really possible that in a T3/O4E Turbo with .50 Compressor housing a 57 Trim wheel is installed?
Everytime i read about 57 Trim, ppl speak about .60 compressor housing?!
How can i recognize which trim is it really?
BTW. Wheel outer diameter is 3", inner diameter is 2.28". Compressor housing inlet is 3", outlet 2".
My guess is, it's a 54 Trim!?

The trim is just the ratio of inner diameter to outer diameter. To find your turbo's trim you divide 2.28^2 by 3^2, OR 2.28x2.28 divide by 3x3. Then you take the result and multiply by 100.
2.28 x 2.28 = 5.1984
3 x 3 = 9
5.1984 / 9 = 0.5776
0.5775 x 100 = 57.76 or 57.76 trim
Now as far as the wheel being able to fit, the inner portion of the housing just has to be machined to match the fans shape. I dont know what kind of clearances are required for that though. But any shop that specializes in turbos should be able to figure that out for you. Either contact Precision turbos, Garrett, Turbonetics, or maybe send an IM to TheShodan.

np, I fixed my post though.
On the last part I meant to say the inner portion of the compressor housing has to be machined to match up with the shape of the fan. Having a wheel too big to fit into the inner housing would obviously cause metal to metal contact. But I dont know what kind of performance losses you would see if the wheel was too small for the inner part housing.
