Default Anyone use Factory Mopar turbo's??

i have a 87 Shelby charger.. its a 2.2l turbo II engine.. i know the turbo has been rebuilt.. and he said something about an upgrade.. not sure tho.. does anyone know the spec on the factory turbo that mopar used?

i was going to part togeather a cheap kit for the B18b in my eg.. and use that turbo.. is there any problems that anyone has run across with using a factory turbo like this? any difference in the oil lines?

and YES i tried to search

any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

wow! another turbo mopar guy! dude, PM me and i'll kick some knowledge.

as for your questions, the specs on your turbo are:
Compressor housing A/R .42
Exhaust housing A/R .48
Compressor inducer 42 mm
Compressor exducer 60 mm
Exhaust turbine diameter 48 mm

and it's got a slightly different T3 flange, one of the bolt holes is offset about 1/2", so it will not bolt up to a typical T3 flanged exhaust manifold.

it's oil AND water cooled, so you'd have make your own oil lines and come up with a way around the coolant lines (not use them, or diy).

and lastly, with the intake setup on those 87 turbo 2.2's (turbo-1) the TB is on the turbo inlet, so you'll need an adapter and you'll probably have to clock it, too.

it really sucks when you type a bunch of stuff in the quick reply and it gives an invalid post so you have to retype everything.... but oh well

anywaz...
i was talking to the guy i got the car from (its been sitting for 2 years now) supposidly the guy who built the car put a 2.5l block in and had sent the turbo in for some sort of "upgrade".. anyone have any ideas what could have been done to the turbo? it is still in the car so i can't get a real good look at it... but it doesn't look like there is an aftermarket compressor housing or anything (but who knows.. it could just be rusty)

also.. anyone have a link to the chilton manual for any 2.2 or 2.5l mopar so i can download it?? i need to replace the headgasket on my moms 93 spirit and need torque specs..

any help is greatly appreciated

There are a few upgrades that aren't visible from the outside... clipping or installing a larger compressor wheel come immediately to mind... neither of which are that great in terms of upgrades...

http://www.minimopar.net has a walkthrough on how to replace the headgasket on any 2.2/2.5.

don't be a cheapskate though, get the head checked out before you put it back on. thats the main reason why most people have to keep replacing the HG on these old dodges.
