Default IS this a symptom of a broken EGT probe?

Well lately I have noticed my EGTs are a little low at idle, after a long hour drive. During the drive, even a 100 rpm increase will raise the egts almost 100 degrees C. The EGTs climb and fall readily easily, and I dont trust them too much. Is this normal to fluctuate that much?

Probe is in the internal wastegate hole on my downpipe, although I have an external gate.
