Stuck wastegate?
My turbo has lost its spool characteristics
it doesnt spool instantly like it used to, it spools slowlly 1...2...3...4 psi etc
the internal wastegate is 8psi
however, it goes to about 13psi, but very slowly
it never had boostcreep before this
what would cause it to overboost but at the same time totally loose its spool time? only thing i can think is the wastegate must be slightly stuck open?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by moops vs moors »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">is the actuator rod adjustable? if not you should make it adjustable before replacing the whole thing and try and make the flapper close tighter.
sounds like the flapper is cracked open and stays that way, it doesn't open all the way at full boost, so it diverts enough exhaust to make the turbo spool slowly, and then doesn't open all the way to lower boost.
either the actuator rod is stuck because the diapraghm is messed up or some carbon or something has built up under the flapper and it's not closing all the way.
best fix is to weld the flapper shut and find a place to mount an external gate
</TD></TR></TABLE>
i shouldve gone that route in the first place but this is a newer turbo and thats not really an option
it is adjustable, possibly came loose?
thanks for the input
