Default Stroked Turbo

Im looking at ways to get the most out of my future turbo setup, and would like to build it bad *** the first time even if it takes me a year or two. Just curious of advantages/disadvantages stroking a turbo charged engine. more torque? can it still rev like a stock bore and stroke? Maybe a Dart block and a crower stroker kit.

Crower kits B18(a,b,c)
84mm bore + 95mm stroke = 2.10L
87mm bore + 95mm stroke = 2.26L

planning on using a GT35R turbo

I would stay away from the 87mm kit, your cylinder walls would be too thin for boost...

95mm is a bit much for a stroker crank, it will put far too much side loading on your pistons/cylinders.

If you want to run the 95mm crank, I would reccomend getting a deck plate installed on your block to give you a better R/S.

If you are looking at a Dart block the tall deck version would be the way to go.

ok, well then the tall deck Dart block, and teh 2.26L kit. Has anyone done this setup all motor or turbo? any problems? Dart blocks are closed deck so i figured i wouldnt have to worry about walls being to thin. Could having this long stroke wear the cylinders faster?

Even with a dart block 87mm is too damn big. Think of how thick the cylinders will be "Inbetween" each of the cylinders. No matter how fat your sleeves are, closed deck or open deck, there is just not enough room inbetween the cylinders to boost 87mm slugs.

As far as the long stroke wearing the clinders faster.. yes it will, but with a deckplate/dart tall deck, you can keep the "wear" in check to a degree.

Will the increased stroke and CC's be benificial to a big turbo setup? In other words is it worth it?

CC's allways help, but there is such thing as too much of a good thing. I feel that on a big turbo app, you would stand to make more power by going with a 84mm bore and upping the boost, rather than going to 87mm and limiting yourself to a lower amount of boost/hp your block can hold.

I think the 95mm crank+boost will create too mush side loading on your engine thus reducing the life of the setup. If you plan on streeting this car I think it would be pushing it too much. You would prolly have to rebuild your engine quite often. This in the end would cost you much more money than it is worth.

For my build I'm going to be using a Dart tall deck with a 92mm crank bored to 84mm. That will give me 2039cc's with a 1.625 R/S. I will also be using a GT35R.

Now if I can ever finish it we can see what it will do

wouldnt it be better to build a B18c1 sleeved 84.5 with a LS crank and LS spec rods, also equivelent to a 2.0L, but much cheaper and revs higher.

Don't use the LS crank and rods. I'm sure that a 1.9L gsr will spool any turbo you want and keep you happy with the amount of power it makes.

Of course bigger is always better but Im not a fan of those stroker kits. Too much money and they will alter your R/S ratio too much unless u go with a tall deck DART block. And I wont sacrifice rpm for anything.

Go with a LS crank. It will give you 1.8mm longer stroke then GSR/ITR. It weighs half a pound less than a GSR crank and is cheaper too boot. Thats what I run on my 84mm GSR block. Which puts me at 1.97L. I spin to 8500 daily too. Make sure you get your crank polished and balanced.
