stock turbo gsr smokes - guides, seals or rings?
over the winter i am going to rebuild whatever is wrong with it but i was wondering if their is anything i can do to pinpoint why it is burning oil. i dont want to have to pull the motor to find out its just the head thats bad.
its a stock turbo gsr. the motor is very strong and feels great. i made 290 WHP on 9psi. the problem is that it smokes a lot. when i drive normal it does not smoke. in higher Rpms (5000 to redline) the car smokes a lot. its very noticeable. when i am in neutral and i rev it to higher rpms it smokes. also, when i let the car sit for about 2.5 weeks and i started it it smokes a little.
compression is 175 across on a cold motor(my gauge is not accurate). when i added oil to the cylinders the numbers didnt move more than 3psi. but this only tells me that the compression rings are good. is their a way to test the oil rings?
thanks

the turbo does have a restrictor on it. it is not the turbo.i converted it back to n/a just to see what happens and it did the same thing.
i know its an internal problem but what can i do to pinpoint that it is the valve seals?
