Stock Sleeves??
My question is how much can stock sleeves handle with boost? Also is it possible to reach my goals without blowing my motor and daily driving it? Anyone have a similar setup that has lasted over the years with stock sleeves? How far can I push my stock sleeves? Thanks in advance

Re: Stock Sleeves??
Skip the head porting and the supertech valves. OEM are just fine if there is nothing wrong with them. Also, buy the Injector dynamics 1000cc's. U dont need a bosch inline pump either, 450-550 totally do-able with a single walbro 255.
WTF is a delta camshaft regrinded to 272 lift? BTW 272 lift (if thats what it is) is complete weaksauce. A honda head can handle up to a .500 lift. So you would be cheating yourself. Use itr cams instead.
I dont see any reason that you couldnt daily something that is 500+ although you will prob get in all kinds of trouble. Also, most tuners wouldnt reccomend anything over 350 on stock sleeves, but my own car has seen 500+ on a block guarded Ls. The way I see it: If you blow up a stock sleeve block all you gotta do is bore .5 over a new block and re-ring & bearing it. So your out minimal money really

Re: Stock Sleeves??
Some would recommend a bore after install though, as the blockguard could "sqeeze" the cylinders out of shape.

Re: Stock Sleeves??
you better have a damn good tuner for anything over 450ish on stock sleeves. Not all engines are the same either, some will take it some wont. tuner1s cams will make more power than itr but either will work for your goal, use a stock TB, ID 1000s, single walbro is sufficienty but 2 is extra insurance for only 400$ with bracket. skip the P&P job, block guard, and tb and put the money into a sleeve job IMO. the money will be better spent on sleeves or tuning. You should ALWAYS bore/hone and decked after installing block guard. At the very least have it checked for egg shape

Re: Stock Sleeves??
with that compression and a 60-1, you are seeing 20psi on 500whp... i suggest run e85 and you will be fine. or maybe 95octane and up

Re: Stock Sleeves??
My friend has a 74mm turbo running 15psi on the street and 17 at the track.. He also has spray.. He had a vortec supercharger on it before with spray and he is still on the same stock block engine.. He drives it all the time

Re: Stock Sleeves??
my ls made 500 on stock sleeves for 6 months and 600+ on the same motor for 4 more months running the hell out of it, that motor is now coming out to go into another car, to make about 450-500 as a weekend warrior

aeromotive fpr (no) but will help hp go up without more psi)
walbro 255lph (yes)
bosche inline fuel pump (no)
Engine: Block-B18c5 bored .5 over (ok)
Golden eagle block guard (ok) if it makes you feel better)
SRP pistons 81.5 9.1 compression (ok)
Eagle Rods (ok)
Turbo: Turbonetics 60-1 ball baring (?) garrett, borg warner, precision is better
This is for your power goals. Go to Evans-tuning.com and look in the b-series dyno charts. Copy a setup making the power you want and you can change little things around to your liking.

Re: Stock Sleeves??
When your stock sleeve goes you wont be able to bore and start over. They will crack and will need to be re-sleeved.

Re: Stock Sleeves??
thats assuming you dont trash out the components if you crack a sleeve. Ive seen it happen both ways. Although I would agree that a block would help contain the damage and keep the sleeve from peeling like a bannana.
