Most HP on Stock Sleeves with Forged Pistons and Rods
What is the most HP some of you have made with stock cylinder walls, and how lond did your setup last?
I want to run 15 psi, but not sure if i will have the budget to sleeve the block. Does this sound possible?

come on Sean there are plenty of stock b series making 300+ whp. with pistons and rods you can definitely achieve that.

Mase tuned an ls/vtec for 20psi of boost with forged pistons and eagle rods with stock sleeves. It hit 418whp.
I believe jinx hit over 500 with stock sleeves.

That fella Steve from Evolution made over 520hp on stock sleeves.
Brian Ballard went 10.19 with stock sleeves
DRT used to run stock sleeves back in the day in their 9 second racecar
Many MANY others used to do the same...

Darton block sleeving only runs $775 for me, I never understand why people always try to cut corners? Spend the extra bucks and have that extra insurance on your motor.

what is it with you people and using PSI as a measure for capability?
15 psi on a T25 is different than 15 psi on a T4/SC61, for example.

i agree. i'm the type that doesnt cut corners, specially when it comes to my car. but ive started thinking about this sleeve thing. if stock sleeves are capable of the power then why not? its just like people running 300whp on stock motors...yeah rods and pistons would be extra insurance but if stock works i dont see why not. i'm not arguing against sleeves im just trying to get some opinions on this matter. if i can save some money and still have a reliable 450whp motor with rods and pistons..then why not?

I think Brian went 146-147 with it Last season.. The motor lasted an ENTIRE season, of brutal beatdowns..
But of course, its called "cutting corners" when its not done the right way , err the HT way

$775 is alot of money and more down time. I would rather spend that money and better engine management and tuning.

A well tuned motor with stock sleeves will last much longer than a poorly tuned motor with aftermarket sleeves.
Bad tuning is what kills motors 99% of the time.

the way i see it. is overtime theres a large chance the sleeves will sink. and then coolant etcc you gotta deal with that.

Not at all.
Idiots who don't understand this keep shops, machininsts, and parts suppliers in business.
I know of a few cars around here that run stock sleeves, and 11 second timeslips. The only problem I see is the above mentioned lack of tuning, or when they run those numbers on stock sleeves, rods and pistons.

Only takes me roughly 1.5-2 weeks to have a block sleeved from the time I receive it. But yes, better EMS and tuning is key.

The fact that you pay 775 and can have a sleeved block with no problems back in less than 2 weeks means **** to the average person. What about all the people that have waited 1 month plus, spent 1000+ and still had problems?

Re: Most HP on Stock Sleeves with Forged Pistons and Rods (Mpir3)
Exactly.. after seeing NUMEROUS sleeving problems, it's definetly desirable to just stick w/ stock sleeves if you aren't trying to push too much power.. My only suggestion is to stick w/ the standard bore.. what is it 81.25 i think.. Although there are tons of 81.5mm pistons, I'd prefer a little more meat for the sleeves, even if it is only a slight amount.

That's their fault they choose to deal with other companies

i always heard that 500hp is the limit for stock sleeves.
my goal is 10's. i'm almost there and i hope it doesn't require more than 500hp becuz i'm on stock sleeves.

how much did the car weigh?
the sleeve sinking part doesnt bother me at all, because if i were gonna get sleeves i'd definitely go through earl and benson. i'm not saying that they are flawless, but they have been so far.
i think im pretty set on not getting sleeves now and just getting a very nice tune.
