Stock ls vtec turbo help!
I recently just cracked one of my sleeves on my stock jdm b16 bottom end. One of my friends has a stock ls block thats been laying around. Its completely stock just has arp rod bolts n thats it. Will it be fine if i just slap on the b16 head with the ls vtec kit n all that n it should be fine? Im only aiming for 300+. My jdm b16 only lasted like 2 weeks so i never made it to the dyno was only street tuned. Was just wondering if it should be fine running the stock block n boosting it. Would it be better than just the b16?

Re: Stock ls vtec turbo help!
the reason u cracked a sleeve is because u drove it without being tuned. if u do the same thing to the new block your gonna end up with another cracked sleeve. boosting a stock block is fine but u MUST HAVE A GOOD TUNE.

x2 lol, u know what though i was gonna do the bolts and head studs and just leave it at that bu man seriously youve already got the head and pan off why not just do the rods and pistons all in one shot and be done with it. this is what im doing as soon as i finish my tranny.

The reason i cracked a sleeve was because of my MBC. I was tuned. My car spiked for some reason n than blew. Im getting arp head studs for sure. Im just gonna run this block until i rebuild my b16. I just wanna make sure the pistons n rods n all that can handle 300whp. For like 6 months until i slowly finish my block.

an 8 lb spring would do fine no need for an mbc but u said "street tuned" and u never made it to the dyno how exactly did u tune it.

Could have been the wastegate that malfunctioned... Just be careful when you get the new setup together, that it wasn't that.
An ls bottom end stock can handle 300hp no problem. I say use it, and build another on the side.
But remember to use VTEC water and oil pumps and timing belt.

Re: Stock ls vtec turbo help!
If it was tuned and it still spiked like that, i'd be looking for another tuner. Tuning in a simple boost cut would have avoided that issue...
Edit: Just realized this thread is hella old

Another suggestion - ditch the Ebay turbo and get something reliable
