Default sputtering in high boost??

i have a turbo b16 that is having some issues at the moment. pretty much when i drive the car on low boost it runs great and does not have any issues at all in boost. but when the boost is at 15-16 psi the car sputters as soon as it hits full boost. any reasons to why this could be happening.

the car made 361whp on 16psi, but when we attempted to turn up the boost on the dyno it did the same thing(19psi). i dont understand why it did this... tomorrow i am thinking about turning the boost down just a bit a to see how it does...any one have any idea about what could possibly be the problem?

the car has id 1000cc injectors so i dont think fuel should be an issue here.
the plugs wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter were all recently replaced.

thanks

WAY too big.

Try .025, if not that try .022.

either the plug gap or possibly the map sensor. I had a similar issue a few years back and my map sensor was starting to go out.

I would try the plug gap, which is most likely the culprit and then I would look into changing the coil.

Woo that's tiny. You don't have any issues with partial throttle break up with it that small?

.030 is acceptable with a real ignition system on stock ignition you have to gap the plugs down quite a bit to no get blow out. For around 20pounds of boost your going to want to be .022-.025 gap. Personally put it at .022 and your done

+1. Had the same problem, regapped the plugs smaller, still breaking up, Went to the honda dealership down the street from the dyno, bought a brand new OEM coil, fixed the problem right away.

Yea plug gap man....I'm running 23 psi on mine and unless the gap is almost touching I blow the spark out. Gap them tighter and you'll be fine.

If it isn't that for some odd reason, I'd then look to dizzy.

What plugs are you using?

if they are slightly larger gap from the package and adjusted to the normal .020-.028" gap for most turbo setups, it is possible the gaps are backing out after several heat cycles. I have seen it before as the cause of high rpm break-up during dyno tuning. changed out for NGK BK--7E and never had an issue after that.

Also check the resistance of your plug wires and for corrosion build-up on the dizzy cap.

how old are your plug wires?? most people look over them. need to be replaced every 2/3 years.

just an update. i adjusted the gap to .20 and it felt much better!! it still has a slight sputter in high rpms tho at 19psi but at 16 its perfect. before it wouldn't go over 14psi. would changing out the coil fix this issue 100%??
