He's jut in super serious mode staring at something

So whats the plan? Drive the car all motor for break in and baseline tuning, then toss the turbo kit on and modify the na tune? Its what i would do, gives you a good baseline for the portion of the tune in vacuum cells.

cant believe you all think theres something wrong with me from that pic, i was looking straight down the track, and he probably snapped the photo right as i started to look over at where the flash was coming from when he was snapping the photo's.

The picture of my friend hes actually staring at the other car. lol

At the end of the month im gonna run another compression test, and leakdown test and pull some final numbers and see whats going on. Still appears to be burning oil for the most part, but theres no smoking, so ive ruled out stem seals and guides as being a potential cause for the most part. If the motor seems like its going to hold pretty strong, ill buy the turbo parts and start converting it, but in the meantime, im already getting LSVTEC together and preparing the car for the vtec conversion. This includes assembling the vtec harness, and modifying the ecu with the vtec components. My old b18b got shipped out to CNCwerx on monday, so im waiting for that to come back before it gets sent over to the machine shop.

I have a question about the auto tranny:

How does it work if you have decent power?

Does it need an LSD?

Or what do you do about one tire spinning more than the other in a straight line or corner.

It works the same as any other car, LSD would be nice but unless you have one custom made for it, you cant get one, you just have to compensate for it with tires.

this goes to show you have no idea about diagnostics. which is okay, you can obviously turn a wrench, more than most can say.
It also goes to show that you have an issue you are unsure of what is causing it, and cant diagnose it yourself, and u poke fun at the vac. gauge. Which is a quick, cheap, accurate and fantastic method. It is really an instrument used to quickly determine if you have an internal mechanical issue.

n3vea..... is right to suggest this. Im currently in school paying a ton of $ for 10 classes, in advanced automotive wiring, and elec. We hit on a ton of normal shop procedures every class, or what shops should be doing. I have gone out and gotten me a nice big 6 inch gauge for this very reason. THEY WORK, if you know what your looking for it will tell you a world of info.
good luck

WTF!? Why did this thread just stop for no reason. I never read all the way through peoples threads, but got sucked into this one for whatever reason. I want to know if you ever got things figured out. I wanna know how the car is running. Did you ever boost it? What happened over the past year!? I've had some setbacks recently with my build, but holy hell man, I feel sorry for you. You've had more issues than I ever want to encounter one a single car. Glad to see you stuck with it though and never gave up...at least I think you didn't. Hell it's been more than a year since you've posted anything

I did actually get rid of it, I was just fed up with it after it all started going to **** again. I had planned for a vtec build which I had in my garage but I wound up just selling all of that, and stripping the entire car down and selling everything. Turn's out the cylinder head had a improperly installed valve guide on the exhaust side which was loose and leaking profusely in cylinder #3. Ring's were just fine on the rebuilt block. That block went to a new home in north jersey where it finally exploded on christmas after 9 months of racing and abuse. The cylinder head went to another person out in texas where it was repaired and put to good use. The trans went to long island where another HT member is building his own auto build using my entire setup, which Im sure someone will eventually hear about. And the car itself went to another good home and someone who appreciate how clean it was out here in south jersey, I hope to see it on the road yet again. I did buy a 06 cobalt SS/NA over the summer for 4k out the door, and I absolutely love it, its a fully loaded car, heated seats, factory pioneer sound, full black on black leather interior, I couldn't be happier with the car. No real plans for it other then to just drive it as my DD.

Sucks that you ended up selling it man, but at least you got to know that the parts went to good use and helped other peoples projects along. I see a few nice cobalts every now and then and I actually used to own a base model sedan one. Wasn't a bad car, just not my taste as far as putting money into. Do you thing though man, if you ever decide to make another build thread for whatever car I'm down to read it
