Sounds like 10 bb's in a coffe can at 7500+RPM in 4th gear on my b16turbo
1999 Si with about 6800miles. Running a greddy kit with the blue box. I have a wideband and it runs ok. around 11.5 to 12.0 to 1 in boost. At full throttle when i get to around 7500rpm i hear this rattling sound, like a few bb's in a big metal can that is being rolled along the floor. If yuo can imagine that. This is most noticable in fourth and fifth gear. I'm not going lean or anything, and it definitly is only audible from my exhaust tip. I hear it coming from behind me.
Also, if you unlplug your pirmary o2 sensor, what does the ecu do? Does it change the timing or pull fuel?
If I left anything out lemme know! Thanks

might be detonation or it can be somethign just majorly rattling around in the engine bay or exhaust. if you gor a greddy exhaust might wanan check if the inner prefforated metal core is still there

bye bye motor, sound like detonation
and pulling the o2 )open loop) the car dumps fuel

bb's on a coffee can is detonation
remember u dont need to be lean, and have too much timing to detonate
ur EGT's might be too hight due to the high load on 4th and 5th
i say back off at least 2 degreed on timing and go from there

Good advice . Did it just start doing this? I have two different tunes now, One for colder denser air and one for the summer.

Re: (hondaguyef)
Haha, that's kinda funny (but not really) cause the first time I learned about detonation I asked someone what it sounds like and they said BB's in a coffee can.

Very scary, this is at about 7 pounds. Stock timing.
Haven't heard the bb's more than thrice now though. I'm on the blue box untill christmas, when i'll be tuning it at a bar with new injectors/pump + uberdata. Any reccomendations on timing, pull 2-5degrees seems to be the norm at 7 pounds?
Thanks for answering me
Mind you, this is VERY quiet, very very quiet and does not sound from the motor at all. It is even the same sound i heard in my buddy's 1.8t with an exhaust. (I figure his stock maps + an exhaust wont cause detonation) That is why i wasn't too worried when ifirst heard it. And i dont lose power at all when i hear the noise. Nothing.

Re: (Si Shane)
AHH, stock timing?!!
That's the problem. The blue box operates much the same way as the afc hack, it'll advance your timing with boost. You need to retard your timing a few degrees at the dizzy. I had a friend just destroy his H22 after only a few weeks with the greddy kit and blue box.
Retard the distributor before you do any boosting.
