Default Something about an aftermarket ignition

My tuning shop said I was having some ignition problems higher up in the range, and therefore he had to retard the timing a bit and detune it a little. I was thinking about getting an aftermarket ignition setup to make sure I'm 100% safe on the ignition side, but there's something I don't get. The B18 has a distributor for ignition, right? So how would you hook up an aftermarket system that uses ignition coils? What do you do about the distributor? Is MSD basically the best system for the money, and what all would I need (controller box? Coil(s)? Anything else?)

Thank you so much for all of your help -

Tyler

OK...maybe I should rephrase my question

I have a B18C1. I want to upgrade the stock ignition. What do I need to buy?

Do your self a favor and don't buy an external coil, they are more pain than gain.
