Ok i've been looking into some different options for my ignition upgrade, and i am really considering going distributorless coil pack style ignition. i know that Crane has a system but i was wondering if MSD Did
i was surfing their website and they have MSD DIS-2 Which is a 2 channel DIS (Distributorless Ignition System) made for 4 cylinder cars. It uses 2 coild to fire off the spark plugs.
Now i'm wondering is this system designed just for cars that are already distributorless or can it work with our honda motors? I'd really like to get rid of my distributor, since i'm going to have to be replacing it soon, and i'd rather pay money and go with something more advanced with less maintenance ...

Your car's a '99...why would you be replacing the distributor soon? All you have to do is replace the cap and rotor at 60k miles and that's not too expensive.
The MSD DIS-2 only works with cars that are already wired for direct-fire ignition. The Honda ECU has a timing map in it that is tied into the fact that the motor has a distributor. The ECU can change the timing of the distributor on the fly. Take the distributor out of the equation and the ECU is not happy.
If you want to convert to direct-fire ignition you need to get an aftermarket ECU that uses direct-fire such as Accel DFI, MoTeC, Haltech, etc. If you want to upgrade your ignition the MSD Digi-6 is nice.

Well i have to replace my distributor soon because my car has about 97,000KMs on it, and i know it will be comming up soon i'm just starting to research.
Thought it would be a good thing to go distributorless, i'm running a powerFC but if it's soo much hassle i think i'll stick with the distributor

You can convert, you just have to leave the distributor sensors intact so that
the stock ecu can read them and then send the ignition pulse to the ignitoin
system.
