some blowby on rebuilt turbo??
i just turboed my ls in my hatch and after i drove it home i noticed some oil blowby. it wasnt like pouring out but just some on the inside of the turbo inlet. what could cause this besides bad seals? im running a synthetic blend (mobile 1) and it hasnt seen a ton of boost yet. i read that it might be from the oil that im using. im on 10lbs right now and i dont plan on going any higher until i build the motor but i was a little concerned about what could be causing it. any ideas?

when you installed the pistons did you place the gap on the exhaust side or intake?
placing on the exhaust side will reduce blow-by and intake will increase, but this is all dependent on how much ring gap you have.
I would get a catch can and track you mpg.. this will let you know if you have decent seal and give you an idea of how much blow-by you are getting.
you can also try checking the compression but you would have to know what it should be for your compression ratio.

can you go into more detail about the oil ring orientation and its results/affects?

There is a diagram for where the rings should go in the Helms manual for most Hondas. Follow that diagram.

I did it for my Neon through the Chrysler PL manual. Im wondering if there is any advantages to orienting them different from which the manufacturer did.
