Sohc Turbo Block d16a6 vs. d16y7/y8
I'm in the middle of building a sohc engine. I have a d16a6 block and d16y7 block w/ d16z6 head and I was wondering which one would be better to use? Pistons and rods don't matter because those are going to be aftermarket. I've heard bad things about y7/y8 oil pressure problems but are the a6 blocks and oil pumps more like the z6? I tried searching but didn't seem to find anything about this.

I have a A6 block.
I used a Z6 high volume oil pump.
I was also kinda wondering the same thing.
I was gonna go A/M, but now have decided to go turbo or nitrous.

The a6 or an a6 block with the z6 head would work well. I wouldn't trust the y7 block.
The a6 and z6 oil pumps are not the same, but they have similar flow rates. The blocks are also similar and should give you no trouble.

Thanks for the reply. I knew the pumps were different, just wondering about flow rates. Heard too many oil pump problems using d16y blocks, even w/ hv pump and wanted to avoid it myself. I'll stick with the a6.
