I bought a mess of a EE wagon that I'm currently trying to sort through...

...but hopefully once I correct the PO's mistakes it should make for a fun little run-a-bout.

'91 Wagon RT4WD

It has a ZC block with a Z6 head, and I have a Greddy cast-manifold with a 14G and a A/C compatible elbow/downpipe. Already have a P28 for it...also have another one with a Hondata S300 that I'm using to drive my B16B swapped CRX.

Playing around with a quick mock-up on my red wagon:

I'm not expecting too much out of this at first, hopefully 200whp or am I dreaming?, but eventually would like to build it up to 300whp and be happy with it.

I have the injectors and fuel pump part figured out , a set of our 800cc and a DW301 in-tank should be enough so I can run E85.

Anything you can see that I should look out for. I figure 300whp shouldn't be too much of a stretch, just have to mind the RT4WD trans and case. I do have a couple of spares, though.

forged rods, forged pistons, and a little bigger of a turbo and 300whp should be a cake walk, even on a stock head.

question that has me stumped:

cruising at 70-75mph afrs in the 15's, the car will randomly spudder once (less than a second) , look down and afr goes to 12's, then back to normal. Thought it was a tps issue, but have changed it 2 or 3 times and same issue. Anyone got any ideas?

Whats up guys. I've put together a turbo kit for my wagovan project and currently working on putting it all in. My power goals for this setup are around 220-240 whp.
I have another motor in the works that will be using forged internals (eagle I beam rods/CP pistons) and a p&p head.

Couple of questions for the experts if you don't mind.

1. What is the power limit of my motor? In other words, based on my setup and assuming my tuner is good, what is a safe hp number I can achieve on a fairly conservative tune. This is not a daily driver but also not a track car by any means.
2. Is my current setup adequate enough to support the motor I'm getting built? My power goals for that motor are 350-370 whp. What upgrades should I expect besides maybe bigger injectors? Will the turbo work fine?

My setup is as follows:
JDM D15b - bone stock
JDM S20 hydro tranny
Precision 3221e .48 trim T3 turbo
Precision 680cc injectors
ebay cast log manifold
Walbro 255
Aeromotive 1:1 fpr
ebay fuel rail
P28 tuned on crome pro for E85
Competition Clutch stage 4 6 puck sprung
Innovative cable to hydro conversion
Innovative steel motor mounts - race inserts (85a)
Innovative traction bar
Tial 38mm wastegate
HKS SSQV bov
Blox mbc
GM 3 bar map
ebay 2 core half size radiator
ebay small intercooler
2" charge pipes hot side
2.5" charge pipes cold side
2.5 downpipe w/ cutout

I'm at 235whp on my stock y8...7k miles boosted and still ticking...152k on the motor!

ARP's and a new headgasket is coming soon though, don't want to push my luck too long with the stock headbolts

1) 250whp on a stock engine is about the max. I will be running around that on my car.

2) Your turbo will not support that kind of horsepower.

Thanks for your input. According to precision's website, my turbo is efficient up to 490 hp. I never trust manufacturer's claims...ever.

Fuel system sizes look good (injectors and fuel pump), but they aren't DeatschWerks.

You mean the 3231e.

http://www.precisionturbo.net/turboc...ger---3231E/57

This guy.

In that case disregard my last statement, thought that turbo was much smaller. Although I would suggest moving to a .63 housing, those .48 housings are extremely restrictive in higher boost numbers.

Thought I'd post a little more from my daily turbo build. Here's my downpipe.

Gotta love working around the AC compressor haha. I have 1/8" of clearance with the DP!

Yea that's exactly the turbo I have. Although my turbine wheel looks different...supposedly it's a stage 3 wheel. Whatever that means.

Hi guys, this is my setup

Engine and transmission:
D16a6 block bored to 75.5mm with D16y8 stock head.
Vitara 75.5mm pistons with NRP rings.
FJ rods.
ACL race bearings.
ARP headstuds and Rod bolts.
T04e turbo 0.63 turbine.
Emusa wastegate, BOV, intercooler, piping and exhaust manifold.
2.5” downpipe and 2.5” N1 exhaust line.
450cc DSM injectors.
P06 chipped with crome/ostrich.
Innovate LC1.
Walbro 255 fuel pump
NGK BKR7E spark plugs.
Stock s40 tranny.
XTD 8lbs flywheel and stage 3 clutch.
Short shifter.
Energy Suspension shifter bushings.

I´m now running the D16Y8 stock engine with aprox 110.000 miles on it, instead of the A6 block FJ rods/vitara that I´m building.

I ran 14.5 @ 96mph on street tires, at 7psi. I´m having some problems with the clutch between gears, for the new engine I will like to buy a new one, I was thinking in getting a LSD motorsport dragger/street disc clutch. The power goal for now is the power that I can get out of the DSMs 450cc injectors, so I will be near 300hp.

And about the axles, do I have to buy a better ones if I plan to do some drag races with slick tires??, thanks.

I already painted the front and rear bumper and fixed the trunk and rear bumper, so its better now, cheers.

Funny as hell, I was like "damn things gotta be an EF" when I hit play, and waddya know. Great stuff guys.

PS - you guys ever try playing with gearing at all? Sounds damn near like a DX trans in that thing!

Turbo'd R18 the new SOHC from honda in the 06+ civics. Last set up i ran at the track 7.5 lbs of boost on a Precision 5857 .62 A/R which was making 241whp/221 wtq ran 13.5 @ 106 with a 2.3 60' on shitty all season street tires with 30% or less tread left. either way put a T in the line up'd the boost to 9 PSI 276 whp 249 wtq havent been back to the track, completely building the engine now Hopefully i'll be running in the low 10's we shall see ill keep you guys posted.

My question to you guys who have real world experience, my stock compression ratio is 10:5:1 should i drop to 9:5:1, 9:1 or drop even lower to 8:5:1 ? any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Dude, got pics?! I actually have an R18 just sitting around. (don't ask, lol).

Dropping the compression isn't something you necessarily need to do, the car will be more responsive if you keep it at 10:5:1 and you will make more power with less boost. Just need to get the tune down.
