So is it time for new rings and tune?
SO yah my car was just smoking like crazy today like a chimney, it is running real rich and im pretty sure the rings are gone! everything else is mechanically sound but its just barreling out smoke like a chimney and running rich, i figure its time to slap some new rings in and get it tuned again.. Sound about right?

It was tuned and tuned good too! its just puffin smoke like no other and out of the breather tube which im going to have to do somthing about that too I think it was time tho that the rings had to go so i will end up replacing those with a new headgasket

before you rip it appart, do exactly what they suggested. go to the auto store spend $25 and get a compression tester. test the compression via the following
unscrew all sparkplugs,
pull the fuel pump fuse
screw the tester
sitin the car and put the pedal to the floor
crank the engine over via the key for about 10-15 seconds. now go look at the reading.
Write them down and what cyclinder they are.
when done post your results to get more info.

that's far more likely than just the rings. good luck, if that's what it is it's time for some forged pistons! but like everyone said do a compression and leakdown test to pinpoint the problem first.
