Default so i raced a camaro

so my friend got a 2000 conv. z28 camaro(stock) and we decided to go from maybe a 10mph roll. i have a 2000 gsr turbo that made 238hp and 178 tq. at 7 psi also have a boost leak that doesent let me boost past 5 psi in 3rd gear and up. i can boost a little higher in 1st and second, but i think its just because they are much faster gears. i have a leak none the less. so 1st and second gear i was right there with him then in thrd gear he started to get in front of me, but he wasnt pulling hard at all, i was keeping up, but obviously he was a little faster. i didnt think i could do as well as i did. he was actually suprised how i kept up. im getting the new ic piping on within a week so no leak then i hope. im not sure if i was leaking on the dyno though. becuase it was holding the 7psi steady and now its not. the only difference was that there was a boost controller in line wiht the vacuum line going to the wastegate, and now there isnt. but it wasnt activated. so i think i got the leak after the dyno. none the less. i just wanted to make a post. thanks

I assume you mean what is lope. If so, the guy was trying to say lobe, but wrote lope because he didn't know the correct word for it. All in all a very interesting quote imho.

Yes. It can affect spool time affecting midrange trq. and if you suck enough of it into your intake you can blow your engine.

Because the exh. gas are not spinning the turbine. Instead they are leaking out the crack in the downpipe. You lose power because your turbo takes longer to hit full boost and the turbo has to work harder to create full boost making it less efficient. The turbo does need some backpressure to work properly. I tried running without one when I was first boosted and I couldnt hit more then 3psi. I put a 2ft dp angling the exh under the car and boom 7psi, exactly what the WG spring was set to. The exh. that is sucked back into the turbine from your leaking downpipe lowers your resistance to deatonation/pre-ignition and on one hot day or one boost spike and kaboom... see ya later ringlands.
