smokin a lot out of LS motor in hatch. any suggestions
Anyone have any probs with smoking, is so what were the symptoms and what did you do to cure it.
I have a B18A1 fully built with a custom turbo set up. I replaced everything from top to bottom but seem to now be getting some smoke (ALOT) ONly when I am warming the car it does it. I only have 1126 miles on the motor. Drove it very sane and easy for break in. When it reaches 180 degrees it stops but still get a lil everytime I stay steady in one gear. Smoke is whitish gray. Did compression tests, took the head off, checked rings, oil stays good, no coolant probs. All have been in good order. Replaced with new gaskets. Any other suggestions?
THANKS for your advice in Advance

I doubt this is it but check the PCV oil box if it uses one to see if thats clogged. It could be a bad turbo seal on the compressor side, you can check this by taking off the charge pipe thats comes from the turbo and check for oil, a little oil is allowable but a puddle usually means the seals around the commpressor is going. gray smoke usualyy indicates rich fuel mixture so i could be totally wrong, everything i said above would cause blue smoke thats all i got hope it helps.

Whitish Grey on startup.
What method of fuel management are you using? If you are running a VAFC then you may have a problem witht he high idle richness. if you are using Hondata, look at your cold fuel maps again.
I think you are just too rich at cold idle.

wel i am taking the head off to replace the valve seals and checking the rings again. My fuel system is still the 12:1 FMU, FPR, and a fuel pump. Hondata is on order and should be arriving. Thanks for the replies so far.
also I checked the turbo seals and they are perfect still. I have another turbo I am putting on from Mark C.<<<<< FOCKER
