It was Valley Machine Shop from Fountain Valley, CA. I wanted to take it to RS Machines but I don't know why Dynamics didn't send it there. They better do the work for FREE!!! I'll raise hell if they don't. I have to find out if I can just resurface it....if thats the case that'll be great. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!

That really sucks man. I had a similar problem with a block that I had sleeved last year. I ended up getting the sleeve replaced by the company but im now selling it before something happens and going with a BENSON machine block. I can't deal with that type of BS. You pay good money for stuff to get done and you get screwed in the end.

Good luck and hope everything works out.

I'm taking my block to Valley and they are going to take care of me. They are going to do whatever it takes to fix the problem. Also, I know RS does really NICE work too. I'm here to bash anyone. I was just venting. Hopefully in the end everything works out.

how much did the sleeves drop, is it minimal enough so they can just deck the block?

There is no excuse for bad machine work ever leaving any machine shop. If any sleeve has the ability to drop, then the install process is wrong or the machinist just doesn't care.

I agree with this. I have experienced both bad and sloppy machine work. It is a huge PITA/time waster and it is something that can be easily taken care of with some basic quality control measures.

Earl, your right. There is no excuse for bad machine work but it happens. If there is one machine shop who has a 100% outcome and NEVER had any problems, then please do tell me. Because i can bet every machine shop has at least a few problems, whether is a sleeve dropping or improper boring or poor decking and etc. Whats more is important is if the machinst is going to take responsibility afterwards. Thats why we use Valley and RS.

clean the oil galley passage. rarely do machine shops do this.

just the other day a guy brought me a short block to build that was, according to his machine shop ready for assembly. just for good measure i removed the 14mm hex plugs at each end of the block. i was suprised (not really) to find a big ball of metal shavings behind them. if i would not have checked this the shavings would have been forced into the bearings. and in a few thousand miles......... BOOM.

dont glass bead heads. its a nightmare to get out all the beads. and i doubt your machine shop is gona go through the trouble to remove all the oil plugs in the head to clean it properly. its hard enough to get the oil plugs in the head out. if the head looks like poo poo then paint it!

hope this helps some of you guys

I agree with you on this. Ive seen heads and its a PIA to remove all the plugs and get all the sand out. Another thing like Omniman said is to take all the plugs out of the block and run water through the gullies. Just make sure you dry off the entire block with compressed air. Dont forget to spray WD-40 on the sleeves too.

Not everyone is perfect...I am personally going to take my block to Valley and I am going to talk to the owner myself. He said he's going to take responsibility on the block. So once again I don't have hard feelings towards anyone. I will let everyone know how it goes. I am taking my block in tomorrow. Thanks.
