Default Skunk2 Pro1's VS Blox Type B Camshafts

I'm gonna make this some what short, but as of right now I have a BB PTE 6265 turbo, 83MM GSR sleeved block, with a b16 port flow head with supertech valve train.

My question is is it really worth swaping my Blox Type B (current cams) to the Skunk2 Pro1's? my main goal is to pick up the better powerband from them. IF there is one?

I've done alot of searching here on honda-tech and can't find much about the "knock-off" blox cams. Everyone tells me to ditch them for the Pro1's. I know most people don't like Blox products but I've made good power with them before with no issues. Money isint the issue here, I just want what's best for my setup as I've got alot of great parts to go along with the Pro 1's.

My over all question is- is it REALLY going to benefit me THAT much to where I should actaully swap over from my Blox B's to the Pro 1's?

Please list pro's n con's about BOTH cams, if there is any. Thank you!

I picked up 65 whp with 3 LESS psi changing from Type R cams to Pro 1's...nothing else was changed. The Skunk 2 Pro 1's are arguably the best out there right now.

What type of power are you looking to make? The Pro 1's are great but they will reduce the life of your valetrain; rocker arms. Are your SuperTech springs rated with enough seat pressure to take the extra lobe of the Pro 1's? Also, I'd use a high zinc based oil with the Pro 1's if you go that route.

Realistically, GSR cams can go up to 500WHP. Type-R's would be nice for a little more torque. The Blox you have should work just fine.

the R&D from Skunk2 and proven dyno graphs all over Jeff Evans Website can clearly justify the Pro1s efficiency...

Only if you installed the seat pressures of the valvetrain over what Skunk2 Recommends. I've been noticing this myth so far over the last year and a half

tuning in for this discussion. I also am in the process of building a turbo set up. 81.5mm oem sleeve motor. Looking to go with pro 1's for the fact they have proved themselves time and time again. However im always up for new stuff. Curious though if the blox b would put out like the pro 1's...

Before I had my block sleeved, I made 506whp at 22PSI with the Blox B's.

I couldn't find much info. comparing theses 2 cams. I wish I could of seen a few dyno grapghs before I made my purchase, but oh well. I am a big beliver in what has already proven it self over the years time & time again.

I just bought the Pro 1's yesterday after making this thread actaully lol. I got a KILLER deal on them from Speed Factory Racing, soo that changed my mind pretty quickly to be honest.

I now have some Blox B cams for sale if your looking

That would be awesome because you don't see much testing of blox stuff.

PM'd.

As the Shodan said, the Pro 1's will not kill your valve train....people that have been posting that probably had something go wrong and needed somewhere to point their fingers.

I;ve road raced my car many times throughout the year the past 2 years. The valve train has been beaten with Pro 1's for 2 years now at 10,000 rpms for hours on end while on track during weekends with no issues.

Granted, I am running a Ferrea valve train, which IMO is the best money can buy.

Do you have a source for your information? I decided to run Type-R cams based on information found on Evans-Tuning.

Well I have an open thread addressing this question (which I discussed at length and reached at least a hypothesis) and after talking with several sources, and have had the same titanium retainers and valvetrain on 2 of my cars for 10 years on each car with no issues, for myself, and there was another that only had an issue only due to installation error.
this is another interweb myth that doesn't have any merit.
