Default simple question....i suppose

Ok well i was thinking about doing a turbo b20/vtec for my gs-r, but lately i have been reading some stories about the weak sleeves of the stock b20. Now my main reason for attempting to do this conversion was for the extra torque from the larger displacement. But i was also considering getting a gs-r block and having it bored to 84mm. Obviously the aftermarket sleeves would provide more stability. And the extra size would in turn provide more torque and performance in general. So my question is why should i get a b20 block with weak sleeves instead of boring out a b18c1. Of course it would cost less for a stock b20 block than getting a b18c1 and sending it out to bored. But couldn't i just get new stronger sleeves put into the b20 block? Or would that cost about as much or more? Damn...decisions decisions... So what do you all think?

I guess you could say i'm torn by the two decisions. By the way i plan on using aftermarket pistons, rods, and daily boost will definitely be around 7-10psi, with track boost possibly hitting 15+ possibly.

You can boost your stock GSR to 7-10 psi just fine reliably if you do it right. Then on the side you can save up and build a b20/vtec or another GSR. Either one built right will yield lots of power. If you're talking about just stock setups, the b20 makes more torque over the gsr due to the larger bore and stroke.

well either way i do it the blocks will be properly built. i was just curious to see what everyones response was with using a resleeved b20 vs a bored and resleeved to 84mm gsr block. since the size would be the same is there really advantage to the other? or would one be more cost effective than the other?
