SI D16Z6 or LS B18B??? going custom Turbo...
hi im a daily driver with a 93 dx hatch with a 180kms and a vary bad clutch its not fun at all... right now im not drivin it and looking to get a engine swap and a custom turbo set up ready for spring time. Should i swap in a D? or the B? looking for a realible set up for daily driving with a bit of pep.. not going to be a racer or any thing.. what would be the best bang for my buck for price, realible, some fun and pep?

Yeap my next setup is going to be a LS turbo...LS engines cost about the same as SOHC VTEC and the stock internals can yeild more HP...
My current setup is my stock engine D16Z6 w/14b turbo....pretty nice for now....

Re: (93turbo16)
Strictly best bang for the buck I would have to say *generally* turbo d series. But all things considered, I'd go turbo ls (b18) if I were you. Bigger motor with more potential (at least stock vs stock, I don't want to open up a can of worms and start a debate in your thread). In the real world, it's probably going to be whatever you find a deal on that you can't pass up.

I would definitely go for the LS motor or LS/vtec if you can.
the LS is fine as it is
and you can build it if you want later...you don't even need vtec if you build the head and get bad *** cams
much more power available with the LS

ok thanks i guess all look for some more prices on ls motors... they seem like they are the better way to go bec a turbo is less stress full on the ls than it is on a z6 sooo it should last lounger and be more reliable and has alot more potential for power in the years to come..
but if i can find 2 z6 motors 4 the price of one ls i might just go 4 a z6 with low boost thanks alot

z6 tranny gearing is almost exactly the same as ls.

sounds like a good outlook to me. z6 turbo is fun to drive, i know i had one, but the ls will make a little more power on the same boost levels

We don't have any other option, unless you want to swap gears or a final drive.
I am just hardcore SOHC.

i hear that. and i also remember hearing that some lsd's wont work with some upgraded final drives. it sucks. i still love the d series and am not playing out having another turbo d in the future. when my turbo d would hang with my friends turbo bmw, he would get soo pissed and i loved every minute of it

I'm hardcore sohc dseries myself,
but I'd actually recommend the LS if you're going for boost.
thing about turbo's is, well basically you can make as much power as your motor can handle.
there are so many people knowledgeable about turbos out there.. it should be no problem to get the info you need to extract all the power you can from your motor.
and of the two motors you chose,
one can handle up to 200whp
the other can handle much more.
which is why I recommend the LS.
now if you decide to build the motor,
thats a different story, but sticking to stock bottom ends.. the LS is tougher.. and thats good for turbo.
