Default she blew on me....

please dont hate....

I finally got my boosted ZC(sohc) up and running TODAY...and i loved EVERY second of it untill i ran it to redline in first and as soon as i shifted i heard the worst sound ever...i knew what happend but it didnt set in till i picked the pieces of my rods and block from the street.

from what i can tell you...i dont even knwo what to say...it pulled like a **** though...and it was amazing...but im sad now.

i was running a precision sc50 with a .5 bar tial WG on an AFC hack

but i've only heard of people breaking rods under expreme power...i thoguht they would hold to at least 250hp

just venting..thanks HT.

Sounds like you overboosted like crazy.... lol.

You should never jsut go out and rip on it after getting it all ready. I like to take ti easy for a firtst few days with minor boosting and no WOT runs so atleats you can figure out what areas need to be tuned more etc.

jason, i hope u know ur Air/fuel ratio gauge dosn't tell u anything if u were trying it to tune it by that.

u need a wideband o2 sensor for ur air/fuel to read correctly, other wise its just lights going back and forth.

how r ur gauge.. they still light up ok? ^-^

THIS IS WHY its really important to get your car tuned, if not all your money is gone to waste.

You hardly need to tune at 7.5 psi.. I think this is a freak incident.

Were you using an FMU?

EDIT: timing, plug gap, and fuel pressure is important though.

I second that ****, also what is the point of slapping it on and taking it to redline the first day you have it running? Damn man. I always tell people to stay off of it untill they are tuned. It is the only way to know for sure you are going to be picking **** off the road the first week you have the car. Sorry about your luck, atleast you learned for next time. Anyway that setup was nice. More than likely you have **** through the turbo.

stock sohc rods hold to 250. I'm a diehard sohc man but damn stock b series rods should be right around that area not d series. well better luck next time around and don't start off just ripping on your car the second you get it on the road. I drive like around the block and come back home to check everything over like any leaks and to look over the chargepipes. Hopefully nothing flew inside the turbine housing.

ya it was the 2nd run around....i admit it was stupid to run 1st gear...but i was so excited...but hey...another 600 bcusk for a new motor will solve my problem...and ill be SURE to take it easy next time...

y0 john...i didnt have the air/fuel gauge..just temp/pressure and boost...but from the settings i put into the VAFC it is said to be rich...-40 across the board.

by the way..megan gauges... still cant figure out the oil presure thoguh..its giving me a tuff time...but they are nice cheap guages if anyone is looking for a set.

ill be tearing it apart within a week i woudl hope to see any other damage i missed..

PS..it was fun... ..ive never been that excited b4 in my life..hhaha..but it didnt last.

On my first setup I put -30 to -35% on 450's to be safe. having it at -40% is kidan the "norm" but I woulda went richer from the get go to be safe.

there's your problem. -40% is WAY TOO Lean with the hack (-40% at idle is okay). The air/fuel gauge is crap unless u have wideband hooked up to it. What injectors were u using? I hope bigger than 440cc. Next time either read up on how to use the hack correctly or spend that extra 400 dollars and get a s200b.

I just don't understand why ppl are soooo tempted to boost when their car isn't even tuned. U spent all that money for the turbo setup and now you blew it for 10 secs of fun. I hope u learn your listen and hopefully your next one will last.
