I'm sorry to see that man.

GOOD TUNING IS THE KEY

Invest a bit fo money in a set of DSM 450's and go Uberdata.

http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata

Hope you have better luck with the next one.

i dont have an air/fuel cuz i know its pointless...and according to basically the ENTIRE hack population -40 is not lean at all...its more on the rich side...

i learned my lesson..thanks... <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Mr.DC2TurBo &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">there's your problem. -40% is WAY TOO Lean with the hack (-40% at idle is okay). The air/fuel gauge is crap unless u have wideband hooked up to it. What injectors were u using? I hope bigger than 440cc. Next time either read up on how to use the hack correctly or spend that extra 400 dollars and get a s200b.

I just don't understand why ppl are soooo tempted to boost when their car isn't even tuned. U spent all that money for the turbo setup and now you blew it for 10 secs of fun. I hope u learn your listen and hopefully your next one will last. </TD></TR></TABLE>

-40 is RICH?? u crazy. Unless u are using like 660CC than -40% maybe... The hack was base on using 550cc injectors but ppl are able to use 440cc with great sucess. The hack should be around -35% all the way across. LIke I mentioned before, -40% okay at idle bc I found that it idles better when it's a little more lean but once u reach up top, -40% isn't cutting it. I would rather have some black plugs than have a blown motor.

U do know that the higher the (-) the more LEAN u get, so how is it more on the rich side????

u spent probably about 700 bucks for that turbo, but went cheap on engine management and NO TUNING

Agreed
my car's new setup will be done tommorrow, and I will have to drive it like a baby (and not boost it) till April 11th when i get it tuned. I can be patient enough for my car

in stead of using afc hack why dont u get turbo edit or uberdata? i mean dont get me wrong u can do some tunning with afc hack but i wouldnt risk it, hope you get ur motor running soon and good luck

a broken rod wouldnt lead me to think it was due to a fueling problem..
I mean.. its not like the rods ever even see combustion!

he has a HUGE HONKIN ******* turbo on there,
and rods that only handle around 200whp...

probably boost spiked a bit, and he was putting down ALOT of power ( he did say it was pulling like crazy).

that thing had to spike more than 15 psi to do damage like that.

on my car -35 was WAYYYY TOO RICH using DSM 450s. have you used the hack yourself??? and by waaay too rich I mean OFF THE SCALE when on a dynojet. so rich it was breaking up up top. my settings - tested with a wideband - ended up at -42 UP TOP. granted mine's an F series & not a D but still...

I cant see why you'd throw a rod at anything under 10 psi.
Especially in 1st. When there isnt much of a load.

PROBABLY spiked a lot higher than that.
Ive spiked my 10:1 comp d15 to 15 psi countless times. In 2nd and 3rd gear. On a base map.

Every setup is different. I'm in the low -30's with upped fuel pressure and 450's

I guess you dont know what detonation is and how rods dont like going backwards

hes gonna take the assembly off in a day or so to let me know if the turbo is in good shape...i really hope it is

That really sucks. I know how you feel. I just boosted my D16. Its not tuned yet so I keep it real mellow. I havent even hit WOT yet. Im to scared it do what yours did. At least now you have a reall good excuse to throw a b series in there. Good Luck!

With 450's, i'd have to say that's on the lean side @ WOT.

sounds like rods blew from detonation. Doubling power output using a turbo puts around 20% more stress than the stock hp. DETONATION (cause by shitty tuning or lack there of, basically too high of cylinder temperatures) puts insane amounts of akward loads on anything and everything in the cylinder. Stock internals on your motor can handle much higher boost than you think. GOOD THING ITS A CHEAP *** MOTOR!!!!!!!!

hmm, interesting,
well I learned alittle somethin then,

I guess I always assumed that your piston would melt before the force went into your rods..
