LoL... you were just saying how you don't want to go B-series because you don't have enough money... then you said you would rather spend an extra $500+ than spend an hour or two learning about Uberdata...

Go Uberdata man... it's not that complicated... you could use that money you save on something else...

500 bucks is pocket change when you are trying to have a good turbo set-up (this coming from a guy that make $8 n hour)

Im local and can do Uberdata for you fully tuned for less then you would be paying for the Hondata unit itself. Either way its up to you. Spend your money the way you want.

I run -39 at idle...found it was the best with less vibrations.
-40-41 in low rpms under 20% throttle
-35-38-35 for boost conditions

Just be thankful that SOHC engines are a dime a dozen.

As a matter of fact, I have seen 2 given away already this year.

Better luck next time - take your time, drop in a b-series and play it safe.

ya...thats one reason i went with a D in teh first place...its damn cheap and still strong..with a lil boost... ....i dont want this to turn into a BvsD thread...so ill keep my comments to myself...lol

im gonna take a ride to Noyan in Manassas to pick up either a D15b or another ZC...whatever they have available....600 bucks without trans works for me.

and BTW...i had a good hour conversation with a fellow HT member that gave me some good info on uberdata...and made me change my mind.

damn man, sorry to hear the story. I too have a boosted D, I love it. Currently ripping out my edelbrock fuel managememnt for hondata and dsm 450's. If you're going hondata, try wiredspeedlab.com. They have good prices and free shipping. Also, I see you're near MD. There's a shop in waldorf ( about 15 miles south of DC), that is a certified hondata tuner and dealer. They can chip and socket your ecu and give you a basemap for you for $60. They can also tune it for you. Not sure how much that is though. I'm going with them when I get all my parts in. The place is called tempest racing. Heard good things about them. Good luck man

damn i don't understand how it blew that bad just from a first gear pull without much load. Its not like -40 is insanely lean. Did you have your distributor advanced or something?

nope...everything was in order...im still worried that this will happen again with the next motor...even with tuning.

do u guys think the turbo is too big?...i mean i know its big but i just dont want it to creep 3-4psi everytime when im at 7000rpm and be spiking at like 11-12 psi on stock block and all.

thinking about changing my .5BAR to as low as a .3 or .4 just to compensate for teh amount of boost creep i could expect.

Ok a couple things,
first of all, $600 is too much for a d15b longblock picked up.
it better be ******* IMMACULATE, I mean looks brand new, comp & leakdown results like brand new, 20k miles or less on it!

I payed less than half that for mine(alhtough it came with only longlock, no manifolds)

I htink you can get one shipped from hmotorsonline to you for less than that,
(435 befor shipping)

Second,
it is wierd that your motor blew so fast, and from a 1st gear pull,
as I was saying earlier, I thought maybe it was just too much power.
I think you need to have it dyno tuned so you know how much power ur putting it down and proper a/f and timing curves.
, and fix your setup so you don't GET boost creep/spikes(thats not normal).

ya...theres alot of things i should have considered b4 i mashed the pedal....i just got too excited after seeing the car run so smooth the first run around...so i pulled her in..looked for leaks looked over the bay while it was running everyhting looked to be in order...and went back out.

Im gonna say that it blew becuase of bad tuning on my part...i shouldnt have pushed it from my settings and should have gotten it dyno tuned....

im lowering the boost since i know now that if its gonna creep to 10psi which is deadly with a turbo that big...i woudl guess near 200whp at least

well 435 + 100 bucks for shipping...i might as well pay teh extra 65 bucsk and pick one out of teh crowd.....but not that it makes a huge difference...it was a ZC not a D15b...but only minor difference.

and im getting rid of my AFC hack and going uberdata... ..this way i can get a hell nof a lot better tuning outa it...plus ill take advantage of taht boostcut option..

and lastly how would i go about "fixing" my setup so i wont boost creep...the WG is stuck where it is...so i duno.

200whp is safe on a stock d series block. I would probably aim for around 200whp. You will be pleased with that ...maybe not for long though

I think another thing that you guys are leaving out is that the hack advances your timing

Your timing was probably rediculous.
