Default Is this setup worth $750?

Hey guys my friend recently talked to a DSM "builder" of 5 years and he said he'd pretty much junk yard turbo my car for me.
*note* don't have EVERY detail yet; will get more and update.

-dc header; only top portion + welding for flange for turbo
-t25 in fairly good condition
-custom welded/made up pipe and downpipe
-dsm smic

Don't know the rest of the details. Pretty much he told my buddy "I'll turbo that crx for 750" which I'm hoping he means a whole "kit"
Like I said I'll get more details and what not, just wanting to know if this is a decent roundabouts price. Thanks.

Shut up and go back to your corner.....

Make sure your car is in good shape, and know EXACTLY what he intends to do. It is a very doable project, but I would be wary of the guy's credibility and skill.

I hadn't planned on modding this engine what-so-ever so I'm pretty doubtful on it; but if the stuff is really good and his work is good, I might go with it. My car will be the 4th b16-turbo he'd be doing in the exact same process so I'll ask to see the other guys's motors and stuff too..

of course before I do this I'm gonna have my motor "checked out" and what not.. don't wanna blow the sucker.. I won't be pushing more than 6-7 pounds anyway.. thanks for input and I'll have more info on it in a while!

dont' skimp on tuning...other than that it will be fine and very do-able...that turbo is very small for a b16a though.

anyone missing that he is going to put a t25 on a b16? Kinda small right? Even if the motor was a d16z6, it would be kinda small. Woudnt it run out of steam before the red line?

more input is needed here since I'm not a big turbo buff on B motors.

ALWAYS, and I mean ALLLWAYYYS get the FIRST reply!?

haha, pains in the butt.

but anyways, just make sure he gives you some good engine management and its possible

very good price though,
because that includes labor correct??

its not tough to put together a solid homemade kit for that much money,

Yeah that's what I was thinking; a t25 would be kinda small, might run out of "juice" before 8000. It was just a dream/hope kind of thing and I think tomorrow night I'll be seeing him to get more info..

But what kind of tuning and fuel did he have? I don't plan on doing Anything other than this kid and things just to have it runing right. I wasn't planning on modding this car at all and this was just an interesting idea brought up. Anyway, about the cutoff of the turbo,
Let's say max boost hit at like 4500 or 5000. Wouldn't it just get weaker not completely cut off? I guess I'll have to just see what's going down, what he's gonna do and see if I can talk it down any..

a t25 should hit max boost much earlier than 4.5/5k
it'll probly be more around 3/3.5k
and yes, it wont just "cut off"
but it might start dwindling down at the higher rpms,
it depends on how much boost your talkin bout running.

so I mean, if you try to run like 15lbs,
maybe by 8500 you'll be down to only 8-9 or something

but if your only going to run like 9lbs to start off with,
I could see the turbo holding at that 9lbs very high,
might dwindle a bit, like down to 7-8, but nothing to bad.

and it probably wouldnt even start dwindling till around 7k

hey Tad,

what about the hot air that the turbo will produce with its out of its range causing more power loss? I think the DSM cars are big mid range power producers, unlike hondas. Just because the turbo can push for example 9psi at 8k doesnt mean its not hot as crap. I really dont know to much about the turbo effiency.

I don't think I mind that too much as I'm not a person who takes it all the way to 8000 any more than 2-3 times a week hehe. Thanks for the info and hopefully you can put even more insight into my "question" when I update what's on the list of things to come. BTW I don't plan on even running 9 psi. Maybe 7 psi at the highest.

I just want this setup to run on my existing stock everything on my motor. I just want a little extra hp, no upgraded injectors, things like that. Of course I'll do what's necessary but as my goals are no more than 6-7 psi, I'd like to keep my motor as stock as possible. I'm selling this baby around summertime or so, to a friend so I'm not worried about the "future buyer" or anything.
