Oil dipstick blowout

Oil dipstick blowout
Every time I run the car hard (6000+ rpms) the oil dipstick blows out. I have replaced the dipstick with an aftermarket and the problem is still occuring. Could it possibly be a blown headgasket? Any info would be appreciated as the problem is becoming an inconvenience.

I would think its blow-by more than the headgasket....compression check time??...other signs of bad rings would be
-oil in the intake and around the breather valve.
-excess crankcase pressure
-blue smoke
-unstable idle
-steam out of the breather valve and/or dip stick
signs of blown headgasket
-oil on the block
-coolant on the block
-white smoke
-coolant odor
-oil in the coolant
-coolant in the oil
-oil in the intake and around the breather valve.

same thing happening to me. i know my rings need replacement...blowby out the a$$, always putting oil in etc. make sure your seal isn't all charred up from the heat. mine looked normal but once when it blew out i touched the pipe seal and the whole thing crumbled to pieces.

Sounds like blowby to me. This happened to one of my friends who had a whole in 2 different pistons. Would fly out jsut from starting it though.
Time to upgrade your bottem end and turn up the boost.

id say do a compression test, see what that says, but could it be as simple as the rubber part of the dipstick wearing away from heat and not seating or sealing correctly? I know with my GReddy Kit im on dipstick #2 cause the rubber part melted away, but then again it never got blown out.

Re: Oil dipstick blowout (AutoBoosted)
a zip tie around the dipstick and a hose clamp around the tube will secure it my dsm buddies do that for a quick fix.

if compression is blowing by the rings thats not a fix. its a nighmare witing to happen. fix the motor if its broke dont listen to anything a dsm guys tells you

yup the ziptie advise is the worst advice ever... look into te real problem and fix it...don't just put a band aid on it and wish it away

so how do you know when you have alot of blowby? lots of pressure from dipstick? oh, and what are good compression numbers for a usdm gsr? im guessing around 200

My buddy ran mid 11's at close to 120mph with 80 psi compression across the board burning all kinds of oil on a 140,000 mile motor that was never touched from the factory (circa 1991 4g63). I know people who have driven around for years with the oil dipstick problem.
Does this mean its a good idea, hell no. But you've got a little time to save up for a motor overhaul and a chance to beef up the internals. FWIW, oil in the combustion chamber propegates detonation. I know hondas aren't too fond of the big "D" so keep that in mind. IE: stay out of boost as much as possible unless it won't kill you to loose a motor.

Re: Oil dipstick blowout (danl)
High crankcase pressures are normal for any boosted car running high RPM's, that is why it is essential to have the necessary evacuation system, with either a beefed up PCV system, or a seperate catch can setup. (Or both)
DSMS often blow the dipstick out at high RPMS because the seal just plain goes bad. Just because it blows out doesen't mean your motor is toast, it could mean several things, among them indicating that you have a poorly setup crankcase evac system.
But it never hurts to check your compression! :-)

Re: Oil dipstick blowout (lazerus)
back from the dead....
would replacing the PCV valve with the wrong kind cause a similar problem? is that at all possible? we're in the middle of some mini-me problems and this is one... quite a few things were done at the same time but to make a long story short, this possibility just hit me.
whatcha think?
