Default Is this setup even necessary to tune?

00 B16a2
Drag manifold
turbonetics t3/t4
hks bov
tial WG 6.5 psi
spearco fmic
inline airtex pump
vortech FMU

That's it. Is there really a reason to tune this setup if only running 6.5 psi?

I don't see how it could hurt anything. Oil is changed every 2k miles.

So far.. the engine runs excellent no matter how often we boost it. There are no plans for raising the boost right now...

Here's a question. How were you going to tune it? You have no 'real' engine management.

Wasn't there an ongoing joke about "fmu tuning" going around on here a while ago?

He could tune just to feel safer knowing his a/f ratio, and he could mess with his timing but it's probably set at stock right now anyways.

Dont those HKS BOV's have tuning ***** on them? I like mine in B minor.

No your fine For "right now"

If you stay where your at you'll be fine but when you go higher do Fuel managment.

What's with the ******* replies? Maybe he was going to buy some kind of engine management if most people recommended to tune the car.

I didn't mention anything about engine management because that wasn't the ******* question. I already know what management I'd go with if I were boosting more. I suggest you get the hell out of this forum if you have no quality input.

Thanks to those who answered my question. I really didn't see a need to have anything tuned, but I always like to ask because maybe someone has had a bad experience with a similar setup.

I would at least use a wideband to make sure it wasn't running too lean.

i'm glad you're having such good luck with the high-compression B16, do you think it's probably cause your'e running very rich/safe?

I think there is more power to be made in a tune. Depends if you were asking about safety or power...

I have 1000 untuned miles under the belt but I'm way rich all the way across the board and 4 degrees retarded. I'm waiting for cams/fuel pump before I tune.

You know what they say about those who assume. Do you really think I'm that stupid? FU..

Anyways, I haven't retarded the timing at all and there hasn't been any detonation that I can hear. The car pulls hard all the way to redline without any signs of lack of fuel nor stuttering. The a/f gauge seems to show it running well (not too rich and not lean).. but in no way do I use that to judge anything. It's a POS..

Thanks for the help guys
