Default which set-up is better?

Which one would produce more power? Which one would be more reliable?

Option #1:

Sleeved B16a1
stock top end
Max-rev turbo kit
14psi (tuned)
T3/T04E .63A/R, 57 trim

Option #2

Sleeved B18A
stock head, skunk2 Intake manifold (maybe turbo cams)
Max-rev turbo kit
14psi (tuned)
T3/T04E .63A/R, 57 trim

GSR hydro tranny would be used for either set-up (I feel the LS gearing is too long and B16 gearing is too short)

One question is the use of a 3" downpipe (rather than 2.5") qoing to give a large increase in power?

I know I need fuel and other supporting mods (hondata, 3Bar map sensor exhaust, fuel pump, injectors, clutch, etc.) but they are a given that is why I have not posted them.

Its kind of a toss up between the two but your missing the main points of it, what compression and bore are you wanting to run in either motor?
After you determinie that you should get better response to your question.

81mm (so I can have plenty of uses from the sleeves, and stronger sleeves)
~9:1

This is for both motors

I would say the B16 would be a better choice, but I dont honestly know how much theat IM would help the B18

The B18A would put out much more torque than the B16 on the same psi... B16's are torqueless bitches of motors... Then again I'm not recommending the B18A either.. I'd go with a B18B...

Why? Is there a difference? I was gonna use the B18A since I already have it.

going 9:1 in both motors...i would definately say the B18. since stock pistons are 9.2:1 in the b18 motor and higher on the b16(one of the main reason the b16 makes more hp). with the lower compression i would assume the b18 would make more power and because you're adding all those other things on(intake mani, cams). but it's really a toss up because the b16 head flows better than the b18a.

all i can say is...good luck and have fun with the project.

In this case I would just go with the B18A sence got a longer stroke and better displacement, just port the head a little bit and clean up the ports and bowls get a good cam and that intake manifold gasket mached and you will be ready to go with that setup..

If you would like more power later on just turn up the boost!!

Come on man it's not all about the torque. . . it's all about the almost perfect rod/stroke ratio where the B18 gets ONW3D! and why the B18 B man over the A
psi per psi I think they would put out very similair numbers (but I dont have much a basis to go off of) and they are both limited to roughly the same amount of horsepower - regardless of their compression.
