Is running an open turbo bad?
I'm using a master power t70 turbo and there isn't a filter on it. Is this bad?
What kind of filter should be put on it IF this is a bad situation?

Is it a daily driver? Think about it... sure it’s bad. You are sucking in anything that gets on your front bumper, windshield, ect. Dirt, bugs, water, you name it, and it could get into your motor. Best case scenario it is just scarring up with inside of the compressor housing or pitting the blades. To each his own though, I live where there is a lot more dust, maybe you don't see it where you live, IDK. If you wouldn't put your head outside the window and open your mouth to breathe in whatever is coming at you, then you should do the same for your turbo/motor.

I've always run a piece of metal screening doubled over held down with a worm-style clamp. Sounds ghetto, but space is an issue

Get a filter or put a video camera in your engine bay always recording. I want to see that vid on youtube when something gets sucked in.
More than likely it will just be increased wear from dust constantly going in and acting like sand paper all over your engine and turbo.
