Default Running Hot. Please help.

I was working oin my car yesterday and I had to drain my coolant from the radiator. I refilled it and for the rest of the day I ran HOT. Not completely overheating but pretty hot. I drained my coolant and it looked like there was little flakes of copper in it. I think this is from when I sprayed my headgasket that I replaced about 1500 miles ago along with some ARP head studs. I think I may have some air in my cooling system that could be causing the overheating or I could have blown my headgasket (bt not likely). Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
