Default Mysterious coolant

Trying to help a friend with his cooling problem. The motor has about 2,200 miles or less on it. Compression was 185 across the cylinders. Leakdown showed 1% - 3% on all the cylinders. Car hasnt been pushed over 11.2lbs on an SC6152E. It has lost a good amount of coolant from the overflow over the last two weeks. It doesnt smoke. It's an ERL sleeved B18c5.

<Edit>
Just looking for ideas that I have not thought of.

arent the engines supposed to "suck" the coolant out of the overflow, if there is any in there? (air and coolant, "trading spaces")

on another note. maybe his overflow bottle has a hole in it ???

im sure you've probably already checked...

but have u made completely sure it didnt have air in the system?

run the car, w/ the radiator cap off, heat on high..... and make sure it doesnt bubble for a few minutes.
