Romulator Battery backup?
Not tuning just yet, but will be soon and i fancy leaving the romulator (and laptop) in the car permanently, or at least a couple of months till im happy with the tune. The thing is, im concerned about the 12 hour memory retention limit. On the xtronics website it says the is provision for a second connection to an external supply, but if it is obvious, its not to me. I've been searching all over for any info and cant find any. The only way i can see to do it would be to use a voltage regulator (probably the lm317 adjustable type) and supply a 3v source to the battery terminals themselves but this seems a little OTT compared with what is suggested on the xtronics site (9-24v?). Maybe i Should have gone with the pgmfi rtp board but i've got this now and i would like to use it. Can anyone help please?
maybe i missed something somewhere...

Hate to bump but I really have been searching for an answer for this for like months now. Input will be much appreciated, thanks.
doesnt really matter...as long as u keep saving your changes to your map, all u have to do when u go to turn the car on is reload the map on to the romulator. No need for another power source...except for the laptop.
Yea, i know im being a bit too meticulous but i think it would **** me off a bit: "I'm just nipping down the shops, oh ****, hang on, I've got to load a tuning map...". Plus I've got that remote start jobbie so that would go out the window.
I dont have a burner and if it's just a case of a wire i might as well try and find out where to put it, plus i like the idea of being able to tune where-ever when-ever.

Not really. Yes, the auto start would be a waste...but its not like u'd have to be like oh wait i've got to load a tuning map. all you do right before u start your car is open your map and hit "ctrl w" and boom your map is loaded and u start the car. Not like u gotta spend 30 minutes.
Yea, but i do use the remote start all the time, what with working shifts and the british weather and all. Im gunna do it i just wanna find out if there is an easy way...
