when i installed my rings, the oil expander ring seems to be out of alignment when i put the oi rings on. i did get it to fit but it seems to be a snug and not move freely. all three rings seem to be snugly fit together. will this be a problem?

 

one thing, when you filed the ring to gap it make sure to sand down the edges of the vertical part where it meets up on the other end. What happen is you have some sharp edges and it get stuck in the ringland grrove. Fiel the rings and sand down the sharp edges where the vertical part is.

Don't file those oil rings...
Install the expander first, make sure the ends are not overlapping but just butting together with the ends pointing down. Install one of the rails. Make sure it still feels flexible and the expander has not overlapped itself on it's own. If it feels good, install the second rail.
Once installed, you should be able to squeeze it and kind of feel it compressing a little. You should also be able to move the whole assembly around the piston.
Remember it's the rails that scrape the oil from the walls, the expander just keeps them aligned. No oil control value.

 

Of course you are right about deburring those upper rings at the spot that you filed them. They have to be free also, as you post

 

i didn't file the oil rings at all. the oil expander ring seems to be a tight fit at one part as if it is not completly flat. i can move all three rings together around the piston but it dosen't move freely seperatly. the middle expander ring seems to be snug between the two. the top oil ring didn't want to go in at first but it did go in.

 

It sounds ok, hard to tell without being there. As long as it compresses slightly when you squeeze it, probably ok. Be sure the gaps of the three oil rings do not lineup over each other. They should be staggered.
