Default REV HARD vs. DRAG

I am building a b18b for my hatch. i currently have 8.5 comp pistons and eagle rods. I was wondering which turbo kit would provide more power...rev hard or drag. Is there any advantage one has over the other? i would like to make in the 12 sec 1/4 mile range, this is my goal. HELP!

Either kit will get you where you want to go.

Damn similar kits in terms of power potential...

revhard provides a better manifold...but that can always be upgraded

I currently have a DRAG III kit. If I was you, your best bet would be to go custom and do it yourself. That way you get the parts you want!

both kits are good, im sure ben from importparts.com would hook a good deal up on a drag kit, whereas i dont see revhard advetising too much around HT.

Yeah the kits are about the same but you could probably get a better deal on a Drag kit from Ben. If you know enough about turbos I would just go custom. The biggest downfall of the drag kit is the manifold, but as mentioned its easily upgradable

I have a DRAG and have no complaints! But If I could of started over again, I would have gone with a Full-Race kit

I went with a DRAG kit, great first kit cause I really didnt know anything about turbos. If you know what you are doing (I regret I didnt learn first) build yourself a custom kit.

the only reason i dont want to build one is because i dont want to have to make up the piping. Is there anywhere that piping can be found?

revhard would be my first choice, but like mentioned earlier, both kits have about equal power potential..

you would be really surprised how easy it is to make your own piping. You can get all the bends you need for like 75 bucks from Jegs or Summit. The thin guage steel is easy to cut w/ a hack saw and you can just order the silicon connectors for well under 50 bucks.
It's really fun to do actually and probably the easiest part of building a custom kit. The parts to worry about are things that will make your engine blow or not run like the oil feed and return and fuel tuning.

DRAG kit includes an air filter and inlet pipe, while RH does not. Also, DRAG comes with bling bling chrome pipes and polished turbo and intercooler.

why are most of you picking rev hard when it seems like drag has more to offer?

i'll be posting pics of a Drag gen 4 kit in a prelude along with dyno charts in a day or so. The manifold is cast and I recommend Jet coating it and the downpipe.

Drag customer support is essentially non existent as for talking to someone from the company but I understand they are working on it??

I was going to use a full race manifold but at the time there was none that would support AC.

My car is a daily driver essentially and any more power than what the Drag setup is putting out (390HP at 16psi) would be nuts since I lose all grip at full boost in 2nd and 3rd gears.

If I had the equipment to do it, I would have welded my own manifold and done my own piping. That may be my next investment down the road.

For now, if you want a kit that provides very good fit and looks good, then i recommend the newest incarnation from Drag. They do stand by their manifolds and replace if they ever happen to crack.

When you see the pics and Dyno charts, I think you'll be impressed with it. Remember, proper tuning means everything though

I know this is a rev hard/ drag turbo kit issue, but if want style and willing to spend a few more bucks...get a custom kit. if not dont buy either the 2...just get a sparks kit. they got better manifold...

what are your uses of the turbo kit? street? track? my friend has a DRAG kit, not sure which one but it's a daily driven car. 7-8psi. his manifold is cracked. no experiences with RevHard but DRAG manifold is not durable.

Mostly all manifolds crack if they are daily driven due to the fat that the car vibrates most of the time during driving and causes stress onto the turbo manifold w/ all the pressure pulling down on the manifold. Drag and rev hard are identical manifolds since day one. They tend to crack the most that i've noticed. Those cast irons arent as good as they say they are but they will do the job for the prices you pay for them. No complaints. Sparks kit is built for street but majority of those kind of manifold that are out there on the market are built for strip only. Do some research of somekind to find out which manifold suits you best. I personally like the KIWI manifold and the lovefab.

listen, a tubular manifold can crack too. If you coat the cast iron manifolds, they are much less prone to cracking. Actually there are few stress points on them at all given their profiles.

if you have not seen the Drag Gen 4 setup yet, it really is quite nice. Not 100% perfect but for a clean looking setup with minimal effort on your part...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothre...41009

and the performance is just fine in my opinion for a daily driven street rocket.
