Default Retuned with DIY port/polished head and 62402 cams...MISFIRE!!

okay turbo gurus i need your help. after i installed my DIY pnp head and crower 402 cams, i have had trouble idleing. it won't idle under 1500 without dying. i thought there was a vacuum leak somewhere but everything tested out good. i've tried tuning out the overlap on these cams but idle still does the same thing. i remember when i first installed the cams, i adjusted the valves/rocker arms to the tightest clearance possible...which i think is .003 for intake and .006 for exhaust?? could this be the reason for all my idleing problems? my valves not closing all the way because of the tight clearance?

anyway, even though my car didn't idle too well, i still took the car to get tuned. to my amazement...i made less power at 10psi than i did with my stock head and cams(317whp vs. 291whp)! this was because i was misfiring like crazy on the dyno for some reason?!? on the road it drives fine for some reason. no misfiring at all. we tried turning up the boost to 15psi and it made 317whp on that took 2 hours of tuning the cams, timing maps, fuel maps, etc and was able to pull off 350whp...with tons of misfiring. well, here's the dyno chart of the 15 psi pull. i know that if i wasn't misfiring i would of at least been able to fine tune the cams and maybe get close to 375whp. oh yeah...i was having another problem as well...my rev limit is set to 8200rpm but for some reason i could go past 7500 rpms!! i was really pissed about this and my tuner tried almost everything to solve this but wasn't able to.

anyone with a solution or an idea of how to solve my problem please go ahead.

that cam valve clearances isto tight i could have sworn they were like .007 intake
and .010 exhaust

look under the hood for the label for valve clearances, you are misfiring because the valves are too tight.

What kind of lsa do you have with your cams? I don't know too much about dohc camming so bare with me. I read your other post about having higher overlap with lower compression. Why did you get cams that have more overlap? You would want less overlap as possible on a turbo engine. If you run high overlap, all your boost goes right out your exhaust. So if you're worried that you made more power with lower boost before with your other cams, there's your answer. More overlap means you'll have to run higher boost to make the same power. That's why cams made specificaly for turbo aps usually are mellow sounding compared to NA cams.

This doesn't have anything to do with your misfire problems but maybe your idling problems. Would you happen to know your cam specs? Again, I don't know anything about honda cams, but the way I see it, a cam is a cam. If you can read one for one car, it should be the same for another, I hope.

What plugs and gap?
What kind of ignition system?
What are you using to tune it?

okay guys thanks for helping out!! i really appreciate it...I MEAN IT TOO! but in order for you guys to help me i know i've got to throw the specs of the parts i'm using out so you guys can calculate/determine/assume what's wrong.

as for cams, these are the stock cams' spec compared to 62402's:
B18B - 220 / 222 185 / 187 .395 / .380
62402 - 233 / 245 194 / 197 .414 / .399

62402 Stage 1- Street use and agressive Turbo or Nitrous. Idle to 7500 rpm.

as for plugs, i'm using NGK 3330's. they're regular NGK plugs 2 step colder. i forgot the other stock number. these come pregapped .030...ran them like that, took them out and gapped them to .026...still had misfire.

ignition system consist of MSD SCI, SS coil, MSD plug wires. all of this controlled by AEM EMS.

cam and ignition timing was all reset back to 16.05 at idle

Have you taken apart your Dist. and checked your rotor lately?

Honda rotors LOVE to come loose!

I have ran in circles with two other turbocharged Honda's this summer. A set of NGK R5672A-10 plugs fixed it! Had this problem with an integra I did, made 538 whp at 28 psi, had to gap the plugs to .021"! Try those plugs and tighten your plug gap.
