Replacing turbo 5831 or .60 trim
Hi guys, My SC34 give up, so I'm going to buy a new Turbo. I want to keep it the more similar possible.
The garrett .60 trim .63ar at $750.00 old design JB. oil cooled
The Precision 5831 MFS .63ar $779.00 JB. oil cooled Made from solid Comp. Wheel
Found the .57 trim at the same price $750.00, but I think to use a little more big to lower the boost to 15-16 psi and the same power.
I like the 5831MFS, but with the last fiasco trying to rebuild the sc34, I don't know if buy precision anymore. ( Impossible to find bearings and super thin turbine shaft).
Any suggestion on this choices will be appreciated.

Why don't you contact The Shodan, he has several garrett based turbos at a very good price tag. The Hunter turbo is journal bearing and 50-51 lbs / min with a very fast spool and a billet compressor wheel. Precisions aren't being reliable lately and there is no need to continue with the old school 60 trim. If you want something larger he should have other options.

I second that - PM TheShodan and see what he has available. Give him a realistic power goal and detail your use/goals for the car and he will come up with something - he has a list of strange one-off turbos you dont see offered publicly. I ran one of his GT3255b's back in the day and it was a great little turbo and the prices are in-line with what you're already expecting to pay.
It would help to know your power goals. You currently have an SC34, but that alone doesn't really tell us anything. Need more details

I know of a turbo shop who can pretty much build you anything for 550 shipped. of course journal bearing. 6262, 5858, 5857, 60 trim, (equivalents of course) pretty much anything. pm me if you want their info.

We have a Billet 5454 option and 5857 option available that would both work well as potent and reliable replacements. I know the Shodan also has a few options as well that would work.

Thanks guys, I forget to update the post. I already bought the 5831MFS.
I made a new thread with the 5831MFS not holding boost at high RPM's.
